My waist is currently around 35" - the pics supplied are of the belt with 36" jeans (which are a bit loose on me). Though I would say that the size is accurate, this particular belt is about 1/2" shorter than a comparable belt I bought at the same time (same manufacturer & same size). As such, though the belt will work for me, it doesn't leave a lot of "wiggle room" (in the pics, the buckle tongue is inserted in the third hole) . . . so, if you're a legit 36" waiste, you may find that this belt is a bit short for you (unless you're cool with closing the belt by utilizing one of the last two holes). I'm satisfied with the overall quality and appearance of the belt - the brown side has a very nice casual look (the contrast with the stiching is quite evident), and the black side provides an attractive contrast with the silver-tone buckle.
