Well work the money
I have no idea why I didn't spend the extra money and buy this pump system before. Over the past 6 years we struggled to find a good gray water system and were practically replacing our gray water tank every 3 to 4 months.

Horrible! Never turns off.
This system gets rave reviews. I'm not sure why. I installed on my boat. The first issue is the sump has a different diameter than the pump, leaving me trying to find a reducer fitting at the hardware store. For a "system" designed to work together, I'd expect them to have same diameter ports.More frustrating however is the pump never shuts off once activated. It initiates when it senses water but seems unable to fully dewater the sump (mine is plumbed with clear vinyl tubing so I can see the liquid getting sucked out of the sump and then fall back in. Almost as if the pump is not powerful enough. I ended up returning it because this item is 2-3x the price of a traditional sump box and clearly has performance issues.

Wonderful replacement for those lame sump boxes!
I have put off writing a review on this unit since installing it nearly a year ago. We have a trawler that came equipped with a Johnson sump box that was connected to shower, sink, and AC condensate drains. Doesn't matter whether you have Johnson, Atwood, etc brand of sump box, they are all the same with their plastic strainer that needs frequent cleaning. Ours had a sonic water sensor--some have float switches. They all collect a nasty, smelly primordial soup inside. Yuck! When ours finally failed (3rd replacement in 7 years), I replaced it with this Whale Gulper unit. Couldn't be happier. There are no screens to clean, the unit simply passes everything through the sensor to the pump, and then out of the boat. The only maintenance required is to remove 5 screws on the sensor top and wipe the membrane every few months. Takes a few seconds once top is unscrewed. Would recommend this to anyone currently using the plastic sump box.
