Great solution to pump oil in some diesel pusher motorhomes
I got this to do the oil changes on our diesel pusher motorhome with a rear radiator. The oil filler port is awkwardly located above the radiator. Our Cummins takes 4 gallons of oil. I used to cobble together a funnel, 1” PVC pipe extension, and a flexible hose and laid it on top of the open rear engine access cover to get the oil into the engine. As you can imagine, there’s a high chance of making a mess using this method and you have to stand on a stool, lift the gallon jugs of oil above your shoulders, and carefully pour it in and not overwhelm the allowable flow in the ghetto funnel extension. I also kept this messy contraption in our rig’s basement just in case we needed to add oil while on the road.I did this for the last 3 years and figured there had to be a better way.Queue this drill-powered pump. I used it for the first time this last weekend while performing our rig’s annual service and it worked really well with one caveat. I already read some reviews mentioning how the included green hose is too flexible and will collapse if used as the suction tube with relatively high viscosity fluids like 15W-40 oil in relatively cool ambient temps. I did use the included green hose on the discharge side of the pump.I had some extra 1/2” ID thick wall vinyl tubing laying around so I used that for the suction side. The ambient temp was around 60°F when I pumped the 4 gallons of oil. I kept my 20V cordless drill on a medium speed and everything worked great. I didn’t keep time, but I was able to get all 4 gallons into the oil filler port in what seemed like minutes. What’s even better is that I didn’t worry if I was going to make a mess.I can’t speak to the longevity of this tool as I don’t foresee using it a lot—hopefully just once a year—but, at its price point, I can’t complain.I got a 1/2” barbed union to connect the suction and discharge hoses together and cooled everything up so that it fits in a fairly small plastic bin so I can throw it in our rig’s basement.

Nice little pump
This is a nice little drill operated pump. It is compact and is not fast but what can be expected of such a small unit. It is fine for emptying or filling a fountain water reservoir or 10 gal or less fish tank. If you are smart and SAFE AND use a BATTERY powered drill, I suppose it is also good small amounts of gasoline or diesel fuel, but I would NOT use it with a standard corded electric drill due to "sparking" potential. It handles dirt and small debris well, but of course chokes up on large leaf debris and such. If you use it for small jobs and use it intelligently it is good little helper around the house, even emptying a sink that is clogged of water so it can be snaked out or putting drain cleaner down after emptying sink with it.** Edit 8 months later: Unit is still going strong after 10-12 uses. Have solved the leaf/debris problem when emptying the in ground reservoirs, too, I put a water bubbler [ T H Marine AS2DP AERATOR FILTER STAINLESS STEEL WIRE MESH STRAINER [Misc. ] on end of intake hose, it filters out all larger debris and then I can finish cleaning job with shop vac. Bubbler also worked great on a vary NASTY plugged up toilet(!!) where I pump down water level (into a bucket!) so could unclog toilet without big mess all over floor. The flexible intake hose does easily kink & bend, but I solved this by slipping a couple of feet of old 3/4" garden hose over it. This also then makes a fine handle for holding the pump which can be tricky as it wants to turn with drill of course.I did also run STRONG bleach solution through pump after the toilet job and have on 3 occasions pumped small amount of mineral oil dispersed in water (VERY vigorous shaking) to lubricate inner workings of the pump, used about 1/2 pt. of 5:1 water/oil mix.

Handy and Works
I would not hesitate to recommend this pump whole heartedly for pumping CLEAN liquids (as long as the height to lift the liquid isn't more than a few feet.) It works very well for such (with the occasional issue marked below by the *.)I enjoy home gardening and needed something to drain some large planting holes which had filled with rain. [Note: Many of the following issues relate more or less to ANY pump and are presented only as things to consider for those pumping dirty water like me.] Because water in such holes contains leaf fragments, small pebbles, mud and silt as well as abrasive sand, I wrapped a small piece of scrap nylon screening around the intake end of the tubing to keep the hose clear and protect the pump's internals. I did this BEFORE I ever used it. Even so, I occasionally had to shake a leaf or silt buildup off the screen while pumping. I, also, made a simple stand out of aluminum wire to keep the intake end of the hose about 1/8" above the bottom and weighted the hose several inches from that end to keep it more or less flat. *It is, also, necessary SOME times to prime the pump by filling the intake end of the hose with water, closing that end with a thumb, sticking it under the water to be drained, removing the thumb, then starting the pump (i.e., starting the attached drill) with the other hand. These things said, this little pump worked surprisingly well on several different occasions and I was able to get my plants in the ground in a matter of days rather than weeks.

Works well, but is very expensive for what you're getting
I paid over $80 with taxes for this pump. I think that is way too steep for what you're getting. I would bet that one of the $20 ones works the exact same

The pump's only good feature is Amazon's excellent return policy
The pump did not work at all.I tried to lift oil out of an outboard motor, but it would not move the oil.Primed the pump with oilFinally tested it in a bucket of old oil. It would not lift more than an inch, even when when primed with oilI took it apart and found no sign of damage. My best guess is that the manufacturing tolerances are too highThere are many similar pumps on the market. I picked this one (despite very high price) hoping that by paying, and because of the Jabsco name, It would be good quality.

Works like a charm
I have no complaints yet. Good quality, pumps my diesel from the big heavy gas cans into the tank on my boat. Emtied my dinghy of rain water in a matter of minutes. Nothing but praise for this gizmo so far. Have only used it twice and holding up so far. Will see how long it lasts.
