What is the difference between the vitamix ascent 48 oz and the vitamix ascent 48 oz dry containers? are they interchangeable?

I spoke with Vitamix Customer Service with this same question.  I learned the wet container draws the flow down into the blades spitting it out to the sides and then up and down again which is the best action to blend liquids.  The dry container does just the opposite - it draws dry ingredients from the sides/bottom and shoots it up to the top and then down the sides to be drawn into the blades and then up.  This action produces powders without heating the ingredients so quickly.  Many people think they can use the regular wet container to grind dry ingredients but it's the effect like a coffee grinder that cuts the dry material rather than pulverizes it.  Also I learned using the regular wet container to grind dry ingredients you will end up scaring your container and the lower 1/3 will be pitted and scarred because of the action of the blades sending the ingredients out to the sides and then up and down again.  If you don't care about your container, I guess you could use it that way.  I would not want a pitted scarred container.  Hope this helps.

does this work with vitamix 5300?

I had the same question. Just got off the phone with Vitamix customer support and they confirmed that YES, IT IS COMPATIBLE with the 5300 series. I was confused because under the product details at Vitamix.com it says it's only compatible with the Ascent series, but when I opened the "View Blender Compatibility" tab after adding it to my cart it said it is compatible with the 5300. Well, even their official website includes conflicting information about its compatibility. so that's when I decided to call customer support. The customer service rep explained to me that all newer containers work with the older models, but the older model containers will not work with the newer blender models. I am happy to find this out since now I can get a container that holds an additional 16 oz. compared to the older model, and also throw it in the dishwasher since the older models are listed as not being dishwasher safe.

We have not tried corn but wheat and other grains and it came out very nice. I think it will make very good corn meal not sure if you can make corn flour
