BockingfordWatercolour Block 140lb/300gms 9x12"/228x305mm Hot Press

I was looking for Hot pressed watercolor paper and came across the Bockingford. I had never heard of it before but I read about it and it said it was made from pure natural woolen felts.This sounded interesting but I didn’t think about the importance of watercolor paper being 100% cotton.I did buy the paper not thinking about the cotton content.So I get it and have been using it. The paper isn’t bad. What I am finding though is that the paint sits on top of the paper for a quick minute or so before being absorbed. Longer than other papers.I’m not sure if this is a hot press issue or the fact that this may not be 100% cotton paper.I recommend 100% cotton paper for professional painters and it’s what I like to use.This paper may be better suited for students. I’m not quite sure.

Very smooth, rather stiff surface finish. Great for very detailed watercolor work. Surface smoother than Arches hot press before and after painting.

I think this is my favorite cold press paper.
