Quality content and quality look and feel.
More insightful than many devotionals... as you might expect from Spurgeon. I bought a second one as a gift, as I was so impressed. Made to a high standard with beautiful cover, thin pages and ribbon page marker. Morning and evening devotionals that really get you thinking.

A Classic daily Bible devotional!
An excellent purchase.Even though it's faux leather, it's well made and looks and feels like a quality book binding.A perfect pocket size. The paper is thin like Bible India paper, with an attractive gilt edge to the paper. The print is small but clear and easy to read if you have good eyesight for reading, otherwise some people will need to use reading glasses. I personally need reading glasses anyway so I don't regard it as a hardship that I need to use my reading glasses to read Spurgeon's Morning and Evening. It's good that the evening reading is on the opposite page.I have no hesitation recommending this.

Small book of devotions
Rev Spurgeon wrote many books on the Bible and this is a devotional book, a little longer than a diary in size with nice cover with gold edged pages. The pages are flimsy so care should be taken when turning pages. Morning & evening are side by side. Would recommend

An indispensible daily devotion.
This volume contains daily devotional readings compiled as two per day for a complete year. Each one comprises a Bible passage, followed by thought-provoking comments from this eminent preacher and pastor of a bygone age. Recommended daily reading. My main complaint is that it is difficult to see what "improved 8/16/2010" actually means - there is still an excess of out-dated terminology and vocabulary, including some American terms that probably would not have been used by the original author. For an example of the former, words such as "intercourse" have a current meaning which is much removed from that originally intended. A further update, using modern English and, perhaps, a more modern translation of the scripture quotations, would improve this book's value.

Quality readings, not so quality printing
Devotionals themselves are fantastic, but there are pages that are cut really badly, surprised it passed quality control

The supreme example of meditation
CHS so often takes an obscure text, has you wondering how this is ever going to be a blessing to your soul, and by the end of the reading has your heart soaring to the heavens with joy or bowed to the dust with conviction. It promotes worship, confession and holiness. It gives edification, exhortation and comfort. I would be tempted to take a star off because his dispensational missteps sometimes (not often) reduce (not much) my enjoyment, however, he wasn't really an expositor and no one should approach this book for exegesis. It is a book for increasing one's appreciation of God and deepening one's love for Him, and it hits the mark. He makes me want to really think about and dwell on Holy Scripture.

A Great Devotional
This devotional has been part of my daily reading for the last 11 years, and although other ones have come and gone, this one will stay with me for 2022.

Edificante

This Will Bless Your Socks Off!!!
This is a penetrating compilation of meditations written by "The Prince of Preachers," Charles Haddon Spurgeon. The man many knew as the most widely popular of English preachers in the nineteenth century, was born in Essex, England in 1834. Spurgeon, who became a Baptist preacher at the age of 20, was such an impressive preacher that his chapel was unable to accommodate all those who wanted to hear him.Spurgeon is a man of both keen intellect and profound conviction of a sort that was most rare for his time, and I believe is all but non-existent today.Spurgeon's life heeded the Berean call to search the Scriptures daily and to evaluate everything we read and hear by that standard! He loved others enough to tell them the truth without compromise! But the most important ingredient to Spurgeon's success was his deep, yet very simple trust in and understanding of his Lord and Saviour and of His great grace and love. Out of this came a great longing to have others come to know, to love and to worship the Lord Jesus as he did. This will become readily apparent as one drinks in Spurgeon's commentary and meditates on his Biblical message. This book is broken into facing pages for the same date such as: This Morning's Meditation, and This Evening's Meditation. This book will absolutely bless your Biblical socks off!
