The best shocks for a daily off-road jeep

5100'S are worth the $$.
I have put this series of shock absorber from Bilstien on every one of my vehicles. Never disappointed. They ride great and stay pretty longer than their steel bodied competition. Lifetime warranty for original purchaser. I'm a little annoyed by the incorrect bushings supplied with this kit. I, like most others have posted, had to re-use my original bushings. See pics for what you will be up against....

Great ride
I installed these shocks. They ride really good. Much better than the Rough Country N3 that I removed. Note: They were difficult to install on the passenger side front of the Jeep JKU. Not much space to work. I cut a space piece of plastic out to make it more accessible. (See image) Otherwise no issues.

Better than stock
Installed these Bilstein 5100's on my 2013 JKU - the passenger front side is going to take a while, there is limited space and there are some modifications you'll have to do to the inside fender well. In order to get the shock in you'll have to be patient, one thing I was not to happy about is that you can't use both of the new rubber grommets that come with the shocks. In order for it to fit in you have to use one of the old ones and one new one. It also seems that there is not a lot of upward travel space on the shock once they're installed, and that was after I took off the original shock mounting extension which is on the vehicle. I was replacing the original shocks. It does ride better I think but I have to play with the tire pressure as well to get the right feel that I was looking for. So for now I am giving it 4 stars if after today 5/28/2020 it gets better I'll update this review. Take your time with this project, it's not a quick install. It does go way faster after the front passenger side is out of the way. Okay, today is the 29th of May 2020. The back install was smooth but... you are going to need smaller bolts on the upper mount two each side. I got mine at Home Depot. They were 25 cents a piece, the new bolts will replace the one you take out from the shock extension on the rear shocks. I have to say I am super pleased with the ride. For the best results play with the tire pressure mine is at 30 lbs per tire and mine are 35’s E N J O Y the ride...

Bushings won't fit.
The shipping and price from TrendsAuto was impressive. My only complaint is the provided bushings do not fit. We had to reuse the old bushings to make them fit.

IMO Best Shocks for your JK
Shocks look great, The ride is great and they are a great value. Bilstein shock are the only way to go. Best value for the money and you don't have to send them in for rebuilds like the other Xox brand. Lifetime warranty and the seller was great contacting me after the sale and making sure my order was taken care. I really appreciated that.

Better than stock
I bought these after a buddy hyped them up. They are on the stiffer side compared to Gox 2.0 or similar. but that is what I need after putting a heavier engine in my jeep. They wend on without issues after struggling to get the rusted shocks off that these replaced. I would get them again in a heartbeat.

Great Shocks!
Great shocks for the price. I am a, once in a few months, lite off road trip Jeep owner. I have done a 3 inch lift from Rough Country and have had Bilstein shocks before on a Toyota Tacoma. These look great, without the 80’s boots on them. The ride is as close to stock as you are going to get with a lift. I recommend them to everyone.
