Lovely installment in a fun, magic-full series.
This has all the usual elements of a wonderful Yasmine Galenorn novel: mythical creatures of all kinds, magic, interesting characters I'd love to be friends with (or would at least love to have a bit of tea and conversation with), and, yes, some romance. What felt refreshing and different to me was the pacing and plotting of the mystery. The first book had a mystery element too - bad things happening with no explanation to hand, but the mystery part of this book felt a little more suspenseful and drawn-out.The strongest part of this book is the professional and personal interaction between the employees of The Wild Hunt. Everyone's work is interconnected. Their lives depend on everyone being skilled and present. They require honesty from each other, which they don't always get to the fullest degree. I'm really enjoying how Ms. Galenorn is building that community, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the characters grow, both individually and as a unit.Great installment in the series. (Yes, you should start with the first book, The Silver Stag.)

Definitly another hit out of the park in the Wild Hunt series
When Herne and Ember are called to help a group of water-horse shifters, they find that the Wild Hunt is drawn into the dark and shadow world of the Ante-Fae. A string of murders is uncovered the more they investigate and as The Wild Hunt discovers, the court of Blackthorn is involved. Can Ember and Herne try to bring the serial killer to justice, but the King of Thorns is watching, and one wrong move will silence them forever.Yasmine Galenorn delivers another pulse pounding ride in her next book in her thrilling new series, The Wild Hunt, in Oak and Thorns. The story is full of new characters and species, a mystery that hints at even more danger and a blossoming romance between Herne and Ember as they navigate the world of the Ante-Fae while trying to keep their necks out of the King of Thorns noose. I just absolutely love this series. Its full of intriguing and diverse characters, a world that is just so fascinating and a storyline that will eave you on the edge of your seat till the very end. This is an author who knows how to reel her readers in and captivate them from the start of the book to the very end. I couldn’t put this book down, even to eat or sleep. I just needed to know what was going to happen to Ember, Herne and the gang.OAK AND THORNS continues a little bit after The Wild Stag (book one) left off and we got to see more of this world Ms. Galenorn created and it is just amazing. Filled with characters and creatures I never really knew much about, this author brings them to life in a way that left me eager for more after each page I turned. I have to say though besides this masterful world building, the characters are what deliver the most in my opinion. In this second book, we find Herne and Ember trying to navigate a personal and professional relationship, try to figure out a mystery of killings that hint at something bit more terrifying and more. The reader will be on the edge of their seat after chapter two and the action, twists and turns don’t let up till the very end. Then as you close the book, you long for more in this wonderful world. The characters-main and secondary-are all well written and complex individuals that fairly step off the pages and into your room. This is an author who knows how to capture her characters essence and personality perfectly within the pages of a story and keep them fresh and unique. I love how this author just keeps upping the bar in each book she writes and delivers a few more twists in a world that is still evolving within the series. If you haven’t tried this author’s work before, I highly recommend her newest series, The Wild Hunt, if you enjoy action, mystery and romance that will make you wish for air conditioning or your partner to jump. I do caution in this series her romances are more explicit than some other books she has written so be warned if you don’t care for explicit sex scenes in your stories. The Wild Hunt series is a it darker than her Bedlam series, but it works and is one I am eager to read more about. I can not wait for the next book, Iron Bones, and see where the author goes next in this marvelous world.

NOT Vampires...
•••NOT for the homophobic, transphobic, closedminded, or faint of heart!•••This series must be read in order. The first book is "The Silver Stag". This is the second book. I can't wait to read "Iron Bones"!Ember and Angel are settling in at The Wild Hunt. Now they have to find a house because there just isn't enough room for them in Ember's condo. With a cold case on Whidbey Island it seems like a great time for everyone to get some downtime in nature, so they all are going on a case for once... Even Angel and Talia. Is there a serial killer on the island? Why are all the murders being covered up? What about the missing persons? Who kills humans and sub-cult alike? Will they ever get to the bottom of this huge cover up?

The Wild Hunt continues as the romance heats up and the team faces new danger
This is the second book in the Wild Hunt series. It would be good to start with the first book; there are many references to Book One. Still, this could be a stand-alone book. It's a smooth read, with lots of suspense, life-threatening situations, gods and goddesses and other supernatural beings, a burgeoning romance with some intense sex. The main characters, Ember, Angel, Herne, Yutani, Talia, Viktor have all returned. The goddess Morgana and god Cernunnos (Herne's parents) usually send jobs to the Wild Hunt, but not this one. Their new job: investigating a missing "person" cold case, a hippocampus murdered a year ago. The appearance of the 'Thorns' is eerie and threatening. The appearance of the 'Oak' is awesome and majestic. The case becomes serious and takes on added complexity and danger as the team races to apprehend the serial killer, now with Cernunnos's command. Ember and Herne's relationship deepens. It's not a cliffhanger ending, but we can look forward to the next book in the series with anticipation.

Good Book
This books begins three months after the last book. Ember and Angel are settled in their jobs and Wild Hunt. A client comes into their office with a private job for them. She's a hippocampus and someone in her pod was murdered and she wants to know what happened. Of course, there is a lot more involved than simply finding a murderer and it's all interesting and exciting. There were a surprising number of typos. The one I found the funniest was when the baddie starts shouting epitaphs instead of epithets. I pictured her yelling "a beloved mother and wife"!

Still on the fence
This story still draws you in but something is missing. I'm not sure what yet. I don't know if I have read anything abt the Ant-Fae before so this was a good read. I wish Ember would listen and stop talking sometimes. The relationship w her and Herne just seems rushed. That being said it's good enough for me to buy the 3rd book and I read book one and two in a day. So a good book or series to read if you want something a bit different to read and take your mind off things.

This story was enthralling. The characters were engaging and entertaining and fantastic, their interactions were intriguing and fun to read. The storyline grabbed my attention, it continued on from the previous wild hunt story seamlessly. Can't wait to read the next story.
