Yes, the built-in timer is controlled with a remote control, where you can select the garland to stay on all the time, or select it to stay on for 4-hours, 6-hours, or 8-hours (which then repeats each day).

Q: Is this still covered in glitter? And are both ends "finished", meaning, does one end have a hook or loop on it?

As stated by others in the comments, the ends do have hoops. We do use some glitter on this item, as the sparkle captures attention, especially when the lights are on and reflecting off the glitter.
