What's Up? South! 36x56 inch; laminated map

Interesante Mapa, pero vino con tallones en la mitad del mapa. Como si hubiera sido forzado en el proceso del empacado. Es una pena porque era para enmarcar.

I have hung this up several places over the years and now it lives in my kitchen. It's a wonderful map and it really gets people talking and thinking about the power and privilege embedded in the history of the "traditional" world map. I would have preferred if it didn't have the bar along the bottom that has a bunch of smaller maps and explanations (and it can't be cut off bc of the lamination) I just wanted the map alone but I couldn't find one like that. It's laminated and pretty sturdy - I have hung it up and taken it down probably four times and it's still looking just fine.

I receive a lot of compliments on this map. It is large and easy to read, and the version I purchased was laminated. It arrived rolled up on a hard cardboard protective tube--well packaged--and was undamaged. There is a spelling error on the bottom of the map (there are advertisements for other maps, one of which is identified as a "poulation map" instead of a "population map"), but otherwise the map itself is fine. It is colorful and visually appealing. I highly recommend the map as a geographical tool, conversation piece, wall decoration, or teaching tool. Social studies/history or elementary teachers will certainly like this map, and it would be a great addition to a classroom (and a fine gift).

This is the coolest! I love how a map like this challenges you to see the world in a new perspective, pushing you to think like this about all things.

wow! this map is huge and it's well laminated.It's hanging in my office wall and everybody has been commenting on it.The funny thing is, nobody noticed it was upside down until i mentioned it to them.I guess that goes to show how ignorant Americans are about Geography.The way I see it, aliens visiting our planet, coming in from outer space, don't have an up and a down.There is no up in space! Hence there is no up on a sphere floating in space!!!If this doesn't put everything in perspective, nothing will.

I love this map. I saw a small version first on a teacher's door and then I saw the West Wing episode about maps. Since then I decided I needed a regular reminder to pause and consider my perspective. The reminder works not just for maps but for just about everything. The world looks so different on this map that it takes me a second to locate my normal landmarks. It covers one of my living room walls and guests always comment on it. It's a great conversation started and makes a unique gift.

I didn't realize this was going to be a laminated map, and it is very large! But it is a really cool item, and I've never found anything like it elsewhere (though I've been looking for a "South Side Up" map for a long time). It's really fun!

This was a gift for my husband and he loves it as he's always been fascinated by the concept of the world seen differently than we've always visualized it. The lamination will keep it in good shape. It's much larger than I anticipated and I feel a bit daunted by the size but that's entirely my fault for not reading the details - but good value for money in that case!
