Nina, Nina and the Copycat Ballerina (Penguin Young Readers, Level 2)

Fans of the "Nina, Nina, Ballerina" trilogy will enjoy this. There is a new girl in Nina's class who has the same name and copies everything Nina does. One day Nina has had enough of the other Nina and in her anger hurts the other girl's feelings. Nina's mother tells Nina to apologize for being mean and to be honest about her feelings. Nina and the other Nina become friends and compose a dance together. Both girls contribute to the dance using thier own unique talents. This is an excellent book for children.Another book with a similar theme is "Ruby The Copycat" by Margaret Rathmann. I recommend purchasing that one along with "Nina, Nina, and the copycat ballerina" because it tells a similar story from the oposite perspective. The story centers on a girl named Ruby who copies another girl in her class. Both books would be a great way to explain to children how to handle a situation where a person is copying them and also why copying others is not right.

Purchased as a small Christmas gift for a 6-yr.-old reader who loves dancing. She loves this book.

I bought several of the Fancy Nancy booksfor my kindergarten age granddaughter. Shehas enjoyed reading all of them and askedfor more...a positive sign that she is onher way to loving to read.

My daughter loves the Nina Nina books. This is one no exception. Just like all of the other stories it teaches a great lesson.

My grand daughter loved it and I will look forward to getting more books of Nina. Plus they teach morals!

I personally thought that this book would be great for the little girl who is in ballet school herself, and might have the same problem with one of the girls in her own class. This book can also be great for the little girl whose mother wants to widen her experiences by introducing her to the world of the arts. This book is a Level 1 book for Preschool-Grade 1, which means that it has very large words for easy reading, lots of repetition, and pictures to go along with the text. I think that this book is so cute and since I am a dancer myself, I know that I would give this book to my daughter in the future! I give this book two thumbs up!
