Mongolia - Culture Smart!: The Essential Guide to Customs & Culture

This was a good summary of Mongolia. Easy read on the plane before I landed in Ulaanbaatar.

I purchased this book for a family member who will be traveling to Mongolia in the near future. He liked it for the same reasons that I did: it is compact, lightweight, and can be easily carried on the trip, yet provides a great overview of multiple aspects of the country and culture. He is an experienced traveler, so I can use his pleased reaction as a recommendation. I'd like to give it 5 stars, but since I skimmed his copy, I'll have to give it 4 stars for now.

A book that provides basic cultural and historical background on the great country of Mongolia. I especially enjoyed the objectivity and the attention paid by the author to the negative impact of Russian and Mongolian totalitarian communist regimes. Very similar to what happened in parts of East Europe with effects that last till today.

This little book has a great deal of information in it, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.I would definitely buy this again.

Not a guide book, but a wonderful resource for background about the Mongolian people, their history and culture.

This book provides a good introduction into the history and current developments of Mongolia. While at times the historic parts are a bit long, the contemporary issues could be more developed.
