Smart plug for remote control. I've lots of these around the house all linked to Home Assistant for automation. They are easy to set up, just make sure that you mobile is connected to 2.5Ghz Wifi as they don't work with 5Ghz but that's the same for most IoT devices. It used other brands smart plugs and found that they don't always play nicely with Home Assistant but these seem solid and reliable always switching when they should. They are small devices so will plug into any socket even if its near the floor. They don't monitor the energy use of the connected device so if you need that functionality then but the more expensive version that does include that but if you want basic on/off control then these are great value.

This is the first HomeKit power strip to come the UK and it doesn’t disappoint! Other companies have made strips for the US and EU and left the UK out! Yet again Meross has beat them to market and made a far superior product that costs considerably less. Other brands are producing home kit power strips that are twice the price and are not even available in the UK. Well done Meross for finding this spot in the market. I was looking for something to smart control three sets of garden lights though Apple HomeKit. My lights are currently powered through to my garage on independent switches and are not smart. I wanted to smart control them via Apple Home and Siri without the need to buy three independent bulky and expensive home kit plugs. The extra plug that this extension has will be an added bonus when I put up Christmas decorations. With this single extension I have freed up precious wall plugs and gained the ability to set independent timers on each of my garden lights. An added benefit to security with the ability to control the strip remotely. The strip sets up in minutes through Apple Home via a 2.4ghz Wifi connection and is controlled effortlessly with Siri on my iPhone and Apple Watch. There is no hub or extra devices to purchase to get this device to work. The power strip also has a long high quality 6ft power cord and has overload protection. The strip is big but not bulky and it has four nicely spaced plugs on the strip which can be controlled individually on the app or via voice commands via Siri, Google Home and Alexa. There are also 4 USB ports which are controllable together as one again though Siri, Google Home and Alexa. I can see this being useful for some USB fairly lights in the future. The single button switch located on the strip controls all the plugs on or off. Some may say this is a downfall of the strip as it prevents independent control but I would argue that you are mainly going to be controlling this strip through Siri and this is a precautionary measure to turn off all your devices in case of an emergency. One thing that this power strip does no have that many new strips are starting to get is Wifi Energy monitoring. For my intended purpose this is not really necessary but would be a cool feature to add to the next generation of this power strip - I would have no hesitation buying an Meross energy monitoring version of this power strip if it came ever came to the market. This strip is pricey but when you consider the value proposition and the home kit support it a real bargain. It is essentially 4 home kit plugs all combined on a nice high quality power strip with the added bonus of having 4 USB plugs that are controllable via HomeKit as well. I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for a home kit strip and to anyone looking at buying independent plugs - by paying the extra now you may save buying lots of plugs in the future.

I'm pretty savvy with techi stuff but these stumped me for a short while. The problem I had to start with the QR code in the installation leaflet didnt work. I have never used this type of thing before as I dont have any voice activated stuff like Alexa & Siri etc… (dont want THOSE spies in my home) So, popped the plug in a socket downloaded the Meross App and from then on I was stumped as the App did not auto detect the plug as it was asking me to put my phone near the "device" …. zilch. After a lot of head scratching and trying things I eventually found out that you need to set the "plug" as your wifi connection but when I did this first time it sad "no internet connection" which I thought it needed well it doesn't! After that it was plain sailing. The Meross App is good but basic you can also use the Smart Things App which is a bit better, you just have to link to the Meross App from within the Smart Things App and it copies across the link to the plug. UPDATE October 2024: great gadget works well BUT and it’s a big BUT, they don’t last, after a year of use they start to pack up and stop working. Perhaps they have built in “redundancy” and are designed to fail after a year or so….. who knows.

The Meross outdoor smart plug is an ideal way to add smart switches to control outdoor electrical devices like garden lights. On the box it says IP64 waterproof which means it’s “protected from water spray from any direction”. Not only does it support Amazon Alexa and Google Voice Assistant it also supports Apple HomeKit and no additional hub is required. Set up was very easy. Simply open the Home app on your iPhone scan the QR code on the back of the switch and within a minute it was ready to use. I named mine Meross Outdoor and can say “Hey Siri turn on all Meross Outdoor” and both switches come on or to control single switch “Hey Siri turn on Meross Outdoor Outlet 2”. As it in Home app I can also control it from my Apple Watch. What I like about Apple Home is the simple way I can incorporate the switch into an automation to turn outdoor lights on at sunset. I would also recommend to download and install the Meross app as this can be used for firmware updates, adding was also simple as the Meross app picked up the smart outdoor plug was already on my network, this then let me check for to see if there was a firmware update. I also added the Meross Skill from the Alexa app signed into my Meross account to link it and Alexa control was also in place. So I now have Siri control or Alexa. The unit itself feels very solid and well made and when powered off and moved connected back to my network very quickly. The socket caps are spring loaded so simply close back up and stay tightly shut when not in use. The cable is quite short as stated but no problem as I already have an outdoor wall socket so this just plugged in and there are screw holes on the back so next job will be to wall mount it and connect up some garden lights. I had no issues with Wi-Fi signal when outside as the socket seems to have a very good range and is also very fast to respond turn on and off with no noticeable delay. Overall great item, simple to setup and compatible with all the main home automation systems, a great addition to any smart home.

After trying a few different brands of “Smart” devices I have come to really like the Meross brand! This is my 6th product from Meross and they work well for me and are easy to setup and easy to Control via the Meross app and this product also supports the Apple home app! These products only work on 2.4g WiFi signal which isn’t an issue for me as I have both my 2.4g and 5g on separate SSIDs this and my previous Meross devices don’t need a hub so work with just my phone and once setup can be controlled anywhere you have a Internet connection on your phone via the Meross app (not on the home app without a hub) You can set up scenes and routines with this and other Meross devices together or individually Including timers and schedules which is very convenient! I will be adding more of this brands smart devices to my ever growing “Smart” home and highly recommended them

Just a few thoughts from a doddery old bloke who was a bit worried about getting these smarty pants plug things set up - it was an absolute doddle. I was dreading it after reading some of the reviews but I must have done something right because it was quite literally download the app, register an account, plug them in, connect, set up a schedule (easy) plug the other devices into them, done! Cut To The Chase: very easy to set up, work like a dream, great connection from everywhere in the house, work without Alexa or Google or any of that stuff, look fantastic, no annoying noises or whining or irritation, easily stack together on a mult extension lead with themselves or other standard plugs, great fun to switch lights on all over the place! I'd read about these smart plug things for quite a while but always avoided them because they seemed a bit too techie. Anyway, we had a few issues in our renovation bungalow with not having two way light switches in some rooms so it was either pay a fortune to have that sorted or get some of these things and try them as a remote light switch. Wow, did we make the right choice! These things are literally wonderful. I genuinely found them super easy to set up, they all just worked immediately. From opening the box and having a quick read at the instructions I had all the plugs installed, connected and working in under 10 mins. It's just amazing what you can do with these things. We can now switch the bedroom bedside lamp on from the living room before we even get off the sofa. The lamp is my wife's side of the bed and I can turn it on or off from my side with a quick tap on the button on the app. Just a simple example but you can probably imagine the possibilities. The app is just as super easy to use as the plugs are. It's honestly just self explanatory. Setting up schedules or 'scenes' or countdown timers is simplicity. I set up a plug to charge our USB C candles but I didn't want them on all the time. How about Monday and Friday morning for a quick top up charge for an hour? Easy. Set up in less than 30 seconds. Previously I'd had to plug them in to the charging lead and do it manually, often forgetting to do it anyway. Overall these are fantastic little devices and they absolutely will not be the last four that I order. There are so many uses for these things that at least one more box is on the cards. Highly recommended.

This is unfortunately useless. I have an iPhone and I can only connect to Apple home on my phone. It won’t let me connect to the Meross app, so I cannot set timers or turn off remotely which is the whole reason I bought it. Avoid if you are an Apple user unless you have the Apple home hub!
