Great Quality, good price
This is a great quality supplement. I used to get the lower dose version, but my doctor put me on a medication that depletes folate in the body, so he wanted me to increase the dose. These make that easy to do. One odd thing that I've noticed is that these do make me sleepy, so I take them at bedtime. The methylated form is what your body needs to use the folate properly, if you have the MTFR gene (most people do).

Caused period abnormality
I started taking high dosage of folate due to spina bifida on my husband's side of the family (his brother and a first cousin's daughter). I had consulted with a couple of gynecologists and also with a genetic counselor who all recommended that I take at least 3,000 micrograms of folate everyday. I'm very cautious of taking such high dosages so I started taking 2,000 a day for about 2 months. Since I started taking that high dosage my menstrual cycle completely skipped. I attributed it to the holidays and it being stress-related. I finally got my cycle on 47th day. I was pretty confident that the following month would have been fine and my cycle would resume as normal. This time I had spotting on the 20th day and two weeks later I'm having something like a cycle but not nearly as heavy as what I usually have. I did some research and there is a medical research on Chinese women and the intake of folic acid which has caused abnormalities with their cycles (google it). I'm definitely confident that that will be the case as I have reduced my intake to 1000 micrograms a day and lately I have not been taking it at all which I think is why I'm getting something like a cycle twice in the same month. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the excessive take a folic acid can affect your menstrual cycle and therefore you would not even be able to ovulate as you should so that might be something to discuss with your doctor. I will be stopping the folate for now.

Who knew....
I had a CBC and it came back low white blood cells. Doc said we would keep an eye on it for a couple of months and if they stayed low she would send me to a hematologist. Google search turned up various types of leukemia, drop due to chemo (which I haven't had), rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune disorder marker or - after some deeeeep digging, malnutrition. Whaaaaa???? I was 132 after losing 6 pounds... in 36 hours. I had been subsisting on 90+ ounces of water (not including 30+ of green tea and about 20+ of latte) daily and a low carb protein meal replacement bar for like a week. It was summer, it was hot, and I was busy and excited about an upcoming event. Well, I'm a 49 year old solo mom of a medically fragile/cognitively disabled kid. I REFUSED ANYTHING BUT THE MALNUTRITION SELF DIAGNOSIS (lol). Further digging (this is where my OCD overthinking pays off sometimes) and I found out that the pins, needles, painful numbness I had been experiencing probably the past year was likely NOT carpal tunnel but a severe Vitamin B deficiency. Severe B deficiency is also a cause of, you guessed it, malnutritive low white blood cell count. Methyl Folate is part of that B deficiency equation, along with the possibilities of B12 and B6. So, I ordered this and a Super B Complex and started taking them twice a day. Within 3 days the (faux) carpal tunnel was GONE. At 4 weeks I asked for a follow up blood count and YAY!! it worked!! totally normal white blood cell count. I can't say for sure if it was this supplement or the Super B Complex or both, I just know to drink less water (64 ounces really is enough for me) and eat more 'meat and 3 non-fried vegetables' meals and take these supplements (regular dosage when I eat healthily) and I'm back as healthy as I can hope for...

This dose does increase my energy and mood
Works to counter act the folic acid added to flour rice crackers and bread. I eat way too muck “enriched” products but I cannot process folic acid. Lots of people’s body can’t metabolize. It it works for you in more energy then you know it works
