Works, but With Issues
I was surprised that this thing actually worked. Some people said they got a black screen, make sure when you plug it in you click the option to allow it to transfer files over USB. I had issues until doing this, this will allow the program to install a firmware update, and the firmware update, it works.I am very surprised this actually works. There is very little latency and I can play games on my TV. I combined this with a dock and now I can just put my phone in the dock and it displays on my TV.I have a few big issues with this, though.1. The Miraplug software disables Bluetooth whenever it begins casting. Why??? When I cast to my TV, I need Bluetooth for my mouse and keyboard, and also the audio (the adapter requires you to stream the audio through Bluetooth). Why in the world does it need to disable Bluetooth whenever I begin casting? What is the point? It is just annoying because I always have to re-enable Bluetooth after the casting begins.2. Portrait mode is really bad because it displays it with giant black bars. My screen can rotate, so I'd like to be able to display portrait mode with the full screen on its side, and then rotate my screen vertically. But I cannot do this, portrait mode is really bad.3. Weird QR code that takes you to some sketchy website displays on the screen whenever the phone is not plugged in. I don't get why the QR code cannot just take you to the Google Play Store for the software. Taking you to a sketchy website is just... a strange decision. Just take me to the actual app.4. This one is not really a fault of the app itself, but I was surprised just how little Android apps actually support mouse input. If you're going to use this to use your phone with mouse and keyboard on a monitor, you will probably want to pay for the app Octopus as well which you can add apps to that don't support mouse input and it will make them work, as well as allowing you to map keyboard keys to touch inputs. You'll probably also want to pay for the app Control Screen Orientation to try and force apps into horizontal/landscape. It's frustrating how little basic quality of life features Android has, the fact mouse clicks cannot be configured to simply act as touch without paying for an app is a nuisance. We wary of that.Update: Here is some more information from me after several days of extensive use. After a few days of use, I am definitely getting money's worth from the adapter. I like to play games on my big TV with it using the mouse, I've been playing a lot of Arknights with it and it works great. I have noticed two additional issues though that have come up.1. It draws a lot of power, to the point that despite my phone saying it is charging while plugged in, it actually slowly drains power. This is pretty slow, though, I could play most the day without the phone going dead. But it's still annoying, I wish it could actually charge the phone while plugged in.2. The adapter does not carry the audio over USB but requires you to stream it over Bluetooth separately from the USB. I was afraid this would cause audio/video desync issues, but luckily that has not been the case. A problem I have encountered, though, is sometimes it just bugs out for a few seconds and plays glitchy audio on the TV. It usually only lasts a few seconds though before returning to normal, but is a problem worth mentioning.Another tip from me. Go to Settings and search Battery Optimization and then set MiraPlug to "Not allowed". I found that the casting software would sometimes seemingly crash and stop casting while I was playing game. The issue was not the software itself but my phone shutting down background tasks that were resource-intensive. Setting the app to "Not allowed" will prevent the phone from doing this.I found I could use this on my low-end Android 10 phone which does not support any sort of Desktop mode to create a pseudo-desktop mode. The app "Control Screen Orientation" can be used to force the home screen to remain in horizontal/landscape orientation. The app "Taskbar" can then add a taskbar that will open apps in resizable windows.

Works good enough, audio is an issue
.INTRODUCTION.I bought this so that I can play my android phone on my tv, it’s a Samsung j3 Luna pro (2016) and i found it at Walmart for about $80. I didn’t expect this to work as well as it did but once you get it all hooked up it works great..AUDIO.However the audio is a big issue. It transfers audio through Bluetooth and not through the cable, this leads to a very noticeable audio latency. I solved the problem by just plugging my phone into a speaker directly, but if the phone you plan on using with this doesn’t have a headphone jack you might want to seriously reconsider.VISUAL.The image quality itself is pretty good, I do notice decompression here and there but nothing obtrusive. And I didn’t notice any input delay even when holding my phone side by side to my tv. keep in mind that it advertises 1080p but that doesn’t mean it’s going to output in 1080p, all this cable does is mirror your display. If your phone’s resolution is 720p, it’s going to output 720p, there is no upscaling..TLDR.The cable works good enough, mild image decompression with very low input lag. Audio needs to go through Bluetooth and has very big audio latency, best solution is just plugging a speaker into your headphone jack if you have one.In conclusion, the product works for the most part as advertised and I would definitely see myself recommending this to people

More complex than "just a cable" More can go wrong because of it.
Tested on 4 devices. Exynos 7870, Snapdragon 600, Snapdragon 821, Snapdragon 865.-Picture- "1080p" is questionable. It's okay-good, not 1:1 on your device screen to TV, not as clear as wireless casting. If you look close there's some slight color saturation and obvious jagged lines and artifacting. It's either compression of the video through USB, or some sort of off-brand anti-aliasing. Unlike a traditional USB-C to HDMI cable which provides a digital handshake from your device to HDMI (if that device supports video out), it appears that the HDMI dongle itself is a micro-computer with its own firmware, receiving data through USB sent through the Miraplug app. It's a neat workaround using USB OTG even for devices that don't support video out. The video may be 1080p, there's clear video quality.-Video Latency- Fantastic performance. Not only is it much faster than wireless casting. You could get away with gaming on it. It's easily the best part of this device, but it's also the cause of its video-audio syncing issue.-Audio Latency- Audio isn't sent over USB like the picture, it relies on Bluetooth. Maybe it's a bandwidth limitation of USB since USB is busy sending picture, but the Bluetooth receiver in the Dongle sucks. The faster the SoC on your device, the faster Bluetooth protocols you likely have, but the best performance out of audio you can get when is comes to latency is with a separate Bluetooth speaker, the built in BT receiver in the Dongle isn't great. Might be a combination of the dongle being behind your TV or covered in Zinc. Maybe they should have used plastic. But the video is clearly faster than audio when not using a separate speaker.Overall it's cooler than just a regular cable, but being more complicated than just a cable means that it takes multiple steps to do a job a single HDMI cord could do. It's highly compatible and fast, but full of problems that become more highlighted the older your SoC is.For $18 it's fine.Even if you can't use it as an HDMI cord, it still works as a charging cord, and the micro USB -> USB C dongle can also provide usefulness.Update- Had to take off some stars for my initial review regarding the "Charging" feature of this product. It advertises itself to work on 5v 1amp of power. I tested it on 5v 0.5a, 5v 1a, 5v 2a(This is standard for most modern devices), and a special adapter that can push up to 4 amps through a single port, and a smart charger that outputs a combination of 5, 9, and 12v, with 1.2, 1.6, 1.9, and 2.3a, which will adjust the volt and amperage it needs to meet its power draw.No matter what charger I tested and swapped out, I could not get the Renkchip to output more than 5v 0.45a since that was all it wanted to give. As a result, my Snapdragon 600, SD821, and SD865 devices would not "charge" as they were using more power than the Renkchip could give them. The Renkchip was working perfectly off just half an amp, there's no reason why using a standard 5v 2a power source should be more than sufficient to use the Renkchip while charging. So seeing as the Renkchip cannot meet standard mobile power needs, and it's on-board bluetooth audio receiver is pretty awful... It's just Al all-round useless product, even if the visual latency is fantastic. I cannot find a use for this cord, much less fuffill what I originally set-out to do, turning an old phone into an Android TV hub.

SUPER
