Stories From The Silk Road

I got this book out of curiosity - and that curiosity was satisfied by the many short stories of another time and era. Some tales were like Aesop's fables, with moral lessons to be learned. My favorite was Clever Ashik, a boy who used some magic items wisely, tricked a khan, and saved his village. The book was also filled with interesting facts about places and travel along the Silk Road.

This book pairs well with Laurie Krebs's "We're Riding on a Caravan", in terms of the places you will visit.Interesting Asian stories for kids to read, rehearse, and retell.

This is a very simple book that points to many other stories that one can find in other books on the Silk Road. For a young reader this book can wet the appetite for looking deeper into a fascinating piece of history and a cultures that are still just being discovered

I should have known this was a children's book from the cover. Still it contains the basic information I was searching for. It will make great summer reading for my daughter.

I thought this book would have tales from throughout the Silk Road (China, India, Persia, Arabia, etc.) It is almost exclusively based in China. A beautiful book, just not what I was looking for.

Great book.

Nice long stories, none of which I've read elsewhere, kept my 7 year old glued by my side. We read it in two sittings, and by the end, he wanted me to go back and reread the "introductions", as he paid attention to the stories only, at first. Good mix with any of the similarly-leveled Marco Polo books. Barefoot Books comes through again. Some of the best stories I've read kiddo this year.

Very good book much like seven princesses. I think the illustrations by some nilesh mistry are awesome ascbnd stories ase pricless too.
