Web Therapy: Season 1

Kudrow does it again.
I loved this side of Lisa Kudrow. I never saw a complete episode of "Friends" but I loved her in the ads. The guest stars are great as well and Dan Bucatinsky shines as her assistant. Lily Tomlin is the eccentric mother and Victor Garber is the closeted husband. I loved this but if you like laugh tracks , you are out of luck. I liked " the Comeback" but this is even better..

Very Entertaining Show
I bought the first season of Web Therapy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lisa Kudrow plays a very sophisticated therapist who gets an idea to provide three minute therapy sessions via the web. Throughout the sessions, you learn a lot about her character. This show was cleverly done and I got the feeling that a lot of it was improvised.

Hilarious
I knew Lisa Kudrow could be funny. I just didn't know she could be THIS funny. This particular show just struck a chord with me, and I laughed out loud through every episode. It WAS therapy--in the truest sense. The humor is very dry. If you enjoy slapstick or silliness, you won't like it at all. But if you enjoy the humor that emerges from everyday life gone wrong (sometimes horribly wrong), this is just your kind of show. What's particularly remarkable is that most of it takes place in a cubicle--Lisa's online office. Now that takes some genius. Think Seinfeld or Larry David, but a little edgier. Truth be told, Lisa Kudrow can say more with her facial expressions alone than most so-called comics can say in a 10-minute routine. The guest stars are wonderful, too--Lily Tomlin (how she kept a straight face I'll never know) and Julia Louis Dreyfus stand out in my mind. Sheer unadulterated fun that for a short, blessed while, takes your mind off demonically depressing politics--and just about everything else. This is a refreshing departure from the usual let's-put-everyone-down kind of comedy that seems to have overtaken prime time television AND late-night shows. Makes a terrific gift for someone who could use a genuinely hearty laugh (yourself, perhaps). Unlike most sit-coms, this one is actually funny.

Hate to say this, because I love Lisa Kudrow
I have only watched a few episodes, and perhaps it will get better, but I have had a hard time sticking with it. The whole concept sounds hilarious, and Lisa Kudrow is definitely hilarious as are the other actors, but it just falls very flat, not too entertaining, and sort of boring. :( I'm sorry, because I really want to like this show.

Very Different and Just Plain Silly
My husband saw an episode of Web Therapy on an airplane. He told me how good it is. So, I ordered both seasons and I have not been disappointed. So incredibly silly. And her acting is brilliant. It's very hard to act a part like hers that seems mostly normal, but a little "off". Her kooky character on "Friends" would have been much easier from an acting point of view. The subtle character flaws are very hard to act convincingly. If you want belly laughs, this series probably isn't for you. But, if you like more subtle and silly humor; and enjoy watching a masterof acting act. You should enjoy this.

Hilarious show that gets better with every episode and season
I am so excited to see this show on Amazon. I used to watch it when it was just a ten minute web series so putting the episodes together for a half hour show is great! Every season it gets better and I love Stephen Webber as her old boss, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as her sister and Lilly Tomlinson as her insane mother. The fact that she refuses to acknowledge that she has an awful marriage because her husband is gay is also a funny addition. Highly recommended. By the way, some Friends cast members make excellent appearances as patients too!

Very very very damn funny !
Very funny - builds quite subtly, so you need to stay with it for the first few eps, but it is laugh out loud funny. The truth is Fiona is a dreadful character, truly dreadful, but luckily for us, everyone around her is considerably worse. This is a new paradigm for US sitcoms really, which like Curb, is where everyone is a complete basket case and not really sympathetic, and yet, the situations are extremely funny. I've only watched Series 1 so far, and I wondered at the beginning whether the format (web chat) could sustain a narrative, but it does, and it was hilarious, down both to the incredible acting talent of lisa kudrow, and the supporting cast - Lily Tomlin in particular is standout - are brilliant.Four Seasons later: I have now seen all 4 seasons of this show on Prime, and I have to say this is one of the most brilliant and funny tv series I have ever seen - absolutely laugh out loud funny ! But don't take my word for it (although my word as a fan of US and British comedy seems to be pretty good), a veritable raft of the best comic talent, pretty much who's who of comedy, and actually from acting generally, have appeared as guest stars, doing I have to say, rather unusual hilarious turns on this show. It is also, for a somewhat fixed format, surpassingly complex, there are narrative arcs, within arcs, and a rather redeeming narrative for why Fiona is how Fiona is, and how, against all ghastly odds, and ghastly people, she manages to be triumphant, and weirdly, and often brutally, successful in her new modality of web therapy. Now a pal came round a couple of weeks ago who was really really depressed, and after a good listening to the woes, which is essential,, and a hearty casserole, and a nice glass of wine, I decided we needed to watch something funny, to get his mind off the situation, so I banged on an episode of this series. Within minutes he was laughing out loud, and I was one happy friend. That my friends, is great comedy.

Quite funny with a decent cast
Brought as a gift for someone; I've recently watched the first season and found myself really in to it! Quite funny with a decent cast; the cast develops over the first and into the following seasons as various celebrities obviously want to be involved in the popularity of this relatively unheard of series in the UK. It is annoying that this dvd set is not in English, meaning the title card and automatic subtitles are always present. But this can be overlooked...

A show that should be getting 10 times the attention it is.
I can't understand why this show isn't getting more attention. Since 'Friends', and maybe during to some extent, Lisa Kudrow has always seemed to have had less attention than Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox and I've never understood why. I'm not saying Aniston and Cox are not funny and talented, but Lisa Kudrow has timing and expression that makes her what I think of as a "natural comedienne". Web Therapy is a brilliant example of this-Lisa Kudrow plays Fiona Wallace, an incredibly insensitive and impatient therapist who believes that 50 minute sessions are over-indulgent, so starts up a web cam therapy business. This series is improvised and I didn't actually know this until after I'd watched the first few episodes. I was really surprised, because Lisa and her guest stars do such an amazing job working with each other, you may not realise. There's something about them firing jokes off each other and situations that aren't scripted which makes this show absolutely hilarious. Not only are you viewing this conversation for the first time, they are; and that makes you feel connected to the characters. This show isn't like anything else on TV, it's innovative, different and full of talent.I wish Lisa Kudrow all the success she deserves with this wonderfully quirky series. I'm looking forward to season 2.
