Entitely Epic
I ordered 2 packs of 25 and got more than 50. Set them in water, and 50% rooted within 9 days. Here in NC I wanted to start to plant them, but as I type this it's 20F outside. But this week it's going up to 60F, and my privacy barrier will take foot. I expect all 50+ to root. Such a better value than $90 per plant for more grown plants. If you can wait a season for your barrier, these cuttings are it! Edit: March 19 - all 57 have rooted in water. They want to live. Now that the temps in NC are 75 during the day and no lower than 45 at night, they are thriving in water. I have planted 25 of my 50+ this week, and they are thriving in soil after 3 days. Yowza..their internal growth hormone is a thing. Just ordered another 25 because I under-counted for my property size. The annoying neighbors will not matter in a year. Edit: Hello from December 2025. They grew exactly as expected - some are close to 40 feet tall, and have the diameter of a baseball bat, or wider. . The limiting factors with tese hybrids seems to be water and sunlight. Which sounds obvious. The ones on my property that get more direct sun do better than those that get less. Water - I wish I lived near a lake with these trees, they'd probably drink it dry. Here in NC we are in perpetual light drought...so as these roots are spreading and finding groundwater, the trees are doing better. My only mistake in plating them is that I should have planted them closer together for coverage. I did 2 rows alternating at 3 feet - which was supposed to be enough. But I've got gaps still. Oh well. Another tip - put down somethign to repel rabbits and deer, that's a problem too. These things must be tasty - and our little friends like eating new shoots from the bottom.

Water water water
All of them grew! Just remember to water them a lot. After I bought I read they are not suitable foundation plantings though so they are going out in the field

One year review
They grew roots and seemed to be thriving. After winter came they went dormant and none came back! They all had good growth before they went dormant. I had asked the company a few times how long does it take to see growth after dormancy and they had me wait a few weeks because of the weather and after that they are saying they won’t guarantee their trees will grow or replace them after they had told me they would. Do not recommend! It hasn’t even been a full year either.

One year review - good seller, not good product
These hybrid willow trees are good for warm climates. They require a ton of water. They require full sun. I planted these in New York. They got tall and never spread out. They went dormant in winter time. The leaves fell off. For a privacy screen it's not what you are expecting. In spring they have a nice yellowish small flower that looks nice. I think if you are looking for a privacy screen in a place that gets frost this is not for you. In winter time you can see right across the yard. I will also say that I tore these out of the ground as they caught a nasty fungus and all died. They are deer resistant but they are not fungus resistant. For a living fence it must be deer resistant, self sufficient for watering, grow fast like weeds, and be thick enough to provide screening. These won't get thick until the third year. I had a row of these in the ground for two years and they still didn't spread out. I think the 3ft spacing is pushing it. I'd plant 1-2 feet for a thicker screen. I only purchased these because I wanted to replace the ones that died from a fungus. In a hot humid climate fungus is inevitable. I don't wanna have to spray fungicide every year. Stick with green giant arborvitae or Leyland cypress. There is a reason everyone uses them. It's more expensive and grows a bit slower but there is no comparison for a place with frost. Again this might bode well in a wet hot environment like Florida but in new york or a dry place like Arizona I don't think so. The seller is not bad. It's the plant itself. Not a good for a screen.

All 25 sticks becoming trees (or at least bushes)
I was as a little dubious about these dry sticks when they came, but popped the bottoms into water and within 3 weeks they all had roots and many had the beginnings of green buds. During the following week I gently potted them into nursery pots I had laying around with some potting soil and put them under a grow light. They have all grown buds and the beginnings of limbs. (Even the few very far away from the light.) I have dire concerns about the moles, bunnies, and deer destroying them once they are planted outside, but that will be a challenge for then. In the meantime, these sticks are developing brilliantly and I think are a great value for the money. I have never tried skinnier sticks, but I think the size of these makes a good difference in maintaining health.

100% propagation + 3 extra cuttings - Couldn't be happier
I'm very happy with my purchase. I've ordered cuttings from several vendors, never really being impressed with any one of them. This set of cuttings were indeed about 2-3 times thicker than the last order I did. I received 3 extra cuttings (28 total), and after the first month of just sitting in water I've had 100% propagation from the cuttings. It's too cold to get them in the ground right now, so I've potted them inside and hope to get them planted in May. But, at this point they're only mine to lose as I obviously got some very healthy cuttings. I just ordered another batch, and hope to order two more from this same vendor next year.

This is the first time I have had a major problem with anything I have bought with CZ Grain
I have paid hundreds of dollars for many batches of willow cuttings and other products from CZ Grain, always with great results. They even tend to throw in a few extra cuttings in most batches. However, this is the first time I have ever had a major problem. The cuttings arrived as normal, except most had at least 50% covered with dry, hard, brown bark. Usually they are all green or mostly green. The brown-ness was dry and didn't smell, so I didn't think to take pictures when I first got them. I changed the water once a day with clean filtered water, and leave them away from direct light, like I have done with countless other amazing and simple CZ Grain willow sticks. After 3 days of doing this, no roots or growth, and the brownness seemed to have spread upwards on most of these, and it now feels a little slimy, so I put each one under cool water and gently rinse them off, like I have always done with willow cuttings. The bark starts coming off. Weirder still, the smell is.. bizarre. It's not a rot smell, it's like a bacterial acidic smell or something. And even weirder, the bark started peeling off in my hands.. I decided to peel one completely to see if the cambium underneath is damaged/discolored. It is! Unfortunately this was a very bad batch. I'm disappointed because it was kind of a lot of money to spend on willow cuttings.. I wanted to contact the company but Amazon is making it complicated so I have to leave this review here. 🙁
