My Kids Love This Book
When I was a child, my mother read me these books and I loved them. Now, I am reading them to my children (ages 8 and 10) and they love them too. The amazing thing about this book is that the author wrote it when he was only 12 years old. Amazing! The later Bruno and Boots books get better and better as the author gets older.I am not sure why Scholastic stopped printing these books. Sure, some technology in these books are a little dated but they are still great fun.

This edition is not the one I read 20 years ago
I recently bought and read the scholastic version in order to reminisce about some of my favorite childhood reading. And woah, was this book really this short? Also I am sure they've made edits to this, as the older edition of this book I read 20 years ago featured George Wexton Smyth's teletype machine clack clack clacking at the break of dawn, and I am pretty sure did not feature cell phones anywhere. Who cares if the technology references are dated, I wanted to reread the original. :(

Great beginning!
Every writer and reader of YA fiction should read this book. Not because it's the best book in Korman's long career, but because it's the first. And he wrote it when he was twelve years old. Many publishers publish books by kids because it's a great media bonanza -- Korman was one of the few child prodigies who turned out to be a prolific and talented writer. In this first book he introduces Bruno and Boots, two smart alecky kids who get into loads of trouble through the course of the novel. The plot is simple. Bruno and Boots get into trouble. Bruno and Boots find a clever way to get out of trouble. But the fun is in the humour and the light-heartedness of the book. Korman obviously liked these two characters because he went on to write several more books based at Mcdonald Hall.

Hilarious first book from Gordon Korman. Boots and Bruno are best friends at a boarding school and they are very creative about causing trouble. This book is silly and a little contrived and perfect for kids who like books that make them giggle! My kids are grown now but this one stays on my shelf for my grandkids!

Flashback to my youth
I loved this book when I read it in my youth and I just bought it for my kids. This book is hilarious and while pranks are played, no one is injured and all characters are shown to be multi-family. Even the stern principal has a sense of humor. This book made me laugh 30 years ago and still does. It is a timeless classic and a great way to get kids to read
