Next Stop Grand Central

My mother sent this book to my children many years ago. We live in Oregon, but I grew up near Manhattan and took many trips through Grand Central when we visited friends and family and did all the fun things around the City. Ready this book brought back so many sweet memories and reminded me that Grand Central, with all it's nooks and crannies, smells, dirt, people, marble, sounds, textures, inconvenient bathrooms, etc. was a very important part of my childhood. It was so fun to share this with my children. This time, I've given it as a gift to my Cousin's daughter who lives nearby in Brooklyn. Keeping the family tradition going.....

Tudo ricamente ilustrado. Tem imagens suas expostas em galerias e museus. Também é conhecida por seus livros infantis. Ama cachorros e tem algumas coleções inusitadas. Enfim, é uma pessoa interessante e isto se reflete no seu trabalho.Neste livro ela retrata a Estação Central de Trens de Nova York (Grand Central Terminal). Trata do cotidiano do local, das pessoas que trabalham lá e das que vem e vão, de situações comuns e inusitadas, tudo de um prisma especial, bem seu.Estou enviando fotos para exemplificar o livro.

As always, Maira Kalman's books are so funny and wonderful to look at. My grown children still read them, my grandchildren are discovering them. The character's names, the quirky drawings - I could live in Ms. Kalman's world!

Beautifully whimsical illustrations drew in my class while witty, lyrical writing kept them rapt.
