Excellent Wallet, Just a tad big
I purchased this wallet instead of a typical style wallet because I like having my stuff secure which a regular wallet typically just is not. I also like the fact this is made out of a more durable material that I expect will last me many years. The zippered pouch inside of the billfold area comes in handy for storing cash or other items you want to keep especially secure. The shark bite closure design is very simple and seems to be very effective. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a large wallet to carry around with typical clothes. If you are in the armed services it easily fits in to BDU pockets, but regular jeans or shorts will accomodate this but not with much more room. It is also a little akward to open if you are used to a regular style wallet just because of the design and the size. I do like that it has two clear pockets for ID and makes it easy to show ID without opening the wallet. I cannot imagine needing the full size version of this as an EDC wallet for a civilian.Made in the USA!!!Overall very happy with it even if it is a bit on the large size for everyday use. I would rather have a larger size and have this durability and security than a typical mens folding wallet. Will buy again when it wears out. Which might be a while. I just wish it came in OD green. The front plastic window had some black smudges inside of it from something when I bought it. No big deal though. I do kind of wish the logo inside was smaller.** 07/12/2013 update **I have to update this review and raise it to 5 stars. After I have grown accustomed to the larger size of this wallet compared to the one I used to have, and also accustomed to the way it opens I have really fallen in love with this design. It has been very secure and very well thought out. I love the zippered cash compartment that is virtually a secret to the unfamiliar and I love the shark bite closure.I just hope I can buy another one when this wears out... a long time from now.

Small enough yet practical
So I've been hitting up the trails quite a bit and realized, there has GOT to be a better way to tote my wallet contents then letting them loose in my pockets hoping that they'll still be there after my hike. My husband purchased the original T.H.E. Wallet and I had a bit of wallet jealousy brewing at that time. Granted his wallet is large and was made for travelling (passport pockets and such), I still envied the durability and the shark-bite enclosure system. My lovely Prada wallet doesn't exactly cut it for outdoorsy activities, and I would go nuts having to listen to the noisy Velcro closure of other throw-down wallets every time I have to retrieve money. This is when I stumbled across T.H.E. Wallet J.R. This is exactly what I was looking for! It's subtle but straight and to the point. No frills and pretty colors. The five credit card slots hold your plastic in snugly so I don't have to worry about anything falling out. There are two ID windows, one zippered pocket with enough room for a little bit of change, two pockets behind the visible card pockets, and a large bill pocket with another zippered bill pocket for concealment. And I LOVE the Shark-bite enclosure! Even with all this storage, it still folds small enough to fit in my back pocket without George Costanza-ing it. I highly recommend this for anyone needing something rugged but not crazy-bulky.

Best wallet ever
Bought these for my sons. The one I have has lasted for 19 years. These do not wear out.

Very Different from a traditional leather wallet.
I'm transitioning from a freshly worn out traditional leather bi-fold wallet. I typically buy whatever is on sale at Kohl's to fulfill my money-carrying needs, but this time I wanted something that will LAST instead of slowly dissolving in my buttside pocket. I researched (ad nauseum) canvas/cordura wallets and came upon the Spec-Ops T.H.E. Wallet J.R. There is a lot of love out there for these "innovative" wallets and, for the most part, it's deserved. Here are my thoughts that aren't already on the every YouTube review:- It's bigger than my old wallet by about 0.5 inches all the way around. It fits snuggly inside my Levi's, but barely squeezes into my slacks.- Its size is noticeable when it's full and if you have more than 6 pieces of plastic, it gets thick quickly. It will hold 8-10 cards easily, but the Costanza Effect of the wallet will magnify.- The "shark-bite" latch takes some getting used to. I LOVE that it doesn't use velcro, but the latch does add a 1/4 inch. I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's wasted space. It's a love-hate thing.- The zippers are standard metal zippers that add some bulk. Not much, but it's noticeable if you're coming from a leather wallet like me. I adore having a hidden pocket inside, but I'd have liked rubber zippers.- The non-J.R. version (I bought both for comparison) is gigantic. It's bordering on not being a wallet; Add some para-cord and you can have a man-purse.- The material is very rigid and feels strong, but it has very little give. I'm hoping it conforms more to my pocket.- The black is sexy. I've always had mahogany leather... I feel like a SWAT member with this wallet.- The stitching is incredibly well done and tight. I don't foresee any kind of degradation happening here. Stitch points are almost always the first to go in clothing/accessories so it's nice to see a lot of thought went into preventing that.- There is a lifetime warranty on the wallet. If it gets damaged or breaks, send it in. I like that a lot and it was the deciding factor for me.Overall, it's a very good wallet. I'll add some more thoughts later on. It's also forcing me to evaluate what I actually NEED to keep in my wallet. I have roughly 12 gift cards and loyalty cards that I just don't need (especially since a number of smartphone apps let you digitally store them). I may buy the mini as well just for comparisons sake too, but for now, this is best wallet I've owned so far. I couldn't give it 5-stars because the shark bite latch irks me a bit.
