Quality traditional Japanese mattress
The futon is lightweight, easy to fold and store, and amazingly comfortable. The pillow is thin but comfortable and the comforter is very thick which can get pretty warm if you run hot. I have a tatami mat laid out on the floor under the mattress. I recommend finding a cotton cover for the mattress and comforter. My previous mattress was rock hard because I had back problems and couldn't sleep on anything softer. I decided to get a traditional Japanese mattress because I had heard they work well for back pain and I wanted something I could also have guests sleep on as a backup if they come over. I've had it for a month now and my back feels better than ever.

Much better than expected
As other reviewers have said, YOU BETTER be ready to commit to a way of life as well as do research. As the ride will absolutely suck for the first few days/weeks. I was already preparing with the MAXYOYO futon earlier in the 2021's. [I can't recommend them]. I slowly over the past year moved from a bed, to a futon on a mattress topper, to the floor with a mattress topper and futon, to now the Futon we will be talking about tonight.I do believe this to be at least partially authentic, the materials of the coverings feel like the futon we actually bought from physical Japan. Not the same quality in terms of the filling but still good enough. The bed is much easier to move than the MAXYOYO, and holds some kind of form.I'm going on about a week and a half of the bed.Day 1-3 my body was like, This is fine.Day 4-8 My body was like, Im going to throw down if you make me sleep on that again.Day 9+ My body is like, [Bed Time] Do we have to? You can add that padding over there you know. [Morning] Can I hug the floor longer please? Its so nice.If you plan to use this for its intended purpose which is a hard, (in my case, Carpeted by <1 inch without futon cement basement floor), You are going to need determination of steel, and willing to deal with the new pains for a few days. Each passing day gets a little easier to relax, and a little harder to get out of bed in terms of comfort in the morning.I figure I have a few more weeks before I don't hurt in other places used to not having basically a padded cement floor poking it, but the other places ive had issues with for years are quickly resolving. It will also get better the more weight I lose. The pillow is both good and bad. I found out months ago I liked sleeping without a pillow when on my back or stomach, but needed it with side sleeping. This pillow is good for back and front sleeping, and suffices for side sleeping, but it is taking getting used to.I have not tried the blanket by itself for a night, but it + a fux fur blanket has been plenty of warmth to allow a few nights of slightly cracked VA window at 30F-40F, when I normally would have about 3-4 blankets around me.Over all I really do think this is a good product. I just wish it wasn't white. The futon we have from Japan is floral. I can already tell you, that it wont be white for long with how much stuff shows up against it. I was going to buy a cover for it, but good luck finding anything in Semi Double sizes, most likely going to be sewing something.

Great Futon - Research What a Futon/Shikifuton/Shikibuton is Before Buying
I chose to make the headline what I did because I see several highly rated reviews that in my opinion are unfair because they have less to do with the quality of the product than they do with the buyer/user's understanding of what they purchased. Please note before reading that this is a traditional Japanese futon (shikifuton) set. It is nothing like the western adaptation of the futon mattress. It is a floor bed with a relatively thin mattress that is very soft for what it is and by the very nature of being a floor mattress is much more firm than what you might expect. An under-layer such as an Emoor Tri-Fold Tatami is practically a necessity with this type of arrangement. Please don't disparage this company nor their products simply based on a misunderstanding of what their product is.***This review and pictures are after a year of nightly use***Emoor makes fine craftsman quality traditional Japanese bedding. This Classe mattress, pillow, comforter and sheet set is no exception to this rule. The mattress is about 3 inches thick. The quilted stitching is done in layers. This allows the fill to be kept in place but also to allow for fluffing without the fill gathering in one place. A very thoughtful design well executed. This particular model is not plush but it is very comfortable. I sleep in a variety of positions, back, side and stomach, and none of those are hampered by the mattress. For added comfort I also use the Emoor Tri-Fold Tatami Mat however it is not necessary and I have spent several nights of very comfortable sleep without it.I have experienced little to no flattening and no odors. The mattress itself cannot be cleaned however laying it out on a sunny day does wonders for it. I use a folding clothes hanger and in the summer place it outside in the sun and in the winter near an open window. The mattress fluffs back up and even retains the fresh air scent. The Tri-Fold is great for low profile storage and somehow does not impact the fill negatively. There are no bumps or thinner areas along the folds to worry about. The comforter is a medium-heavy, thick, fluffy and soft product. It is very warm and certainly not for all seasons but really wonderful for the winter and fall months. I have never before been a fan of this type of blanket but this comforter changed my mind quickly. It's just very comforting. Great to swaddle yourself in.It has thick box stitching. The fill doesn't gather and is evenly distributed. There are ties along the seams to attach it to the inside of the comforter cover which will be described below. The pillow is a thin, hotel style pillow. It is soft but not plush. There is no odor. It folds in half easily to act like a traditional japanese box style neck pillow. The sheet set and comforter cover received with this bundle package is called Naturalbox. It is a GREAT set.100% Japanese Cotton. Very clearly a quality product. It is incredibly soft and smooth. The material stays cool to the touch. It is thick, dense and durable.Just an absolute dream to sleep on.The sheet is fitted in a rectangular fashion, perfectly sized to the mattress so it does not gather or bunch. The corners are tight and it can stay on when folding the mattress for storage. The comforter cover ties on the inside to the comforter to prevent bunching and bundling. There is also a zipper along the side that is so well hidden that you will forget it is there. No need to ever worry about feeling it or accidentally opening it. It too is perfectly sized for its use.The pillow case is a snug fit and also has a perfectly hidden zipper. It holds the pillow well and feels great on your cheek. All in all this is an amazing value for a full shikifuton set high in quality and comfort. Please take the time to read up on traditional futons before purchasing this.As a starter set, to find out if a traditional futon is right for you once you've done your research, you can not pass up this set.

Authentic Japanese futon
My husband and I built a tiny house with a loft as the bedroom. He surrounded the loft in cedar and we decided we wanted to go Japanese, as he is Japanese and I am mixed Japanese-American. We were ecstatic to see it came packed as you would expect from an authentic Japanese company and the turnaround was quick. We purchased a thin tatami mat to place over the cedar and this futon set fits perfectly. One for each. It is the type of futon we recall growing up with. You can tell by the quality and care that went into making it. He uses it alone, but I put a 1" foam topper on it. It has been exactly one year since we purchased it and it still holds up as if it were near-new. Mind you, we do put it out in the sun every few months or so to give it life. We love it so much that we recently bought another set for guests who may come to stay with us. Highly recommended!
