Surprisingly capable kit!
I am a full-time portrait photographer, and I received this lighting set to give an honest review. Thank you for giving me the opportunity give my true impressions of this product.First off, this is a nice compact lighting kit with a surprising amount of light output. Two sets of lights, stands, AC cables, and softboxes come all together in a small carrying bag. We usually have to carry a lot of gear as photographers so having all everything together in a small bag is really convenient. As for the lighting itself, this kit produces a surprising amount of light. Does this replace my strobes for my commercial shoots or portrait sessions? No, but I found this kit to be more than capable for our headshot sessions. The big advantages of this lighting kit are:1: You can dim or brighten the light2: You can change the white balance3: They are continuous lightUnlike so many continuous lights around this price point, this kit will let you dim or brighten the light output. Being able to dim the light makes it easier to control how much shadow we want to introduce. I tend to use flatter light with a female subject (the ratio of light/power output on the key and fill lights are similar), and more contrast with a male subject (2:1 to start, then adjust depending on the subject’s facial structure). Being able to control light output is so nice, and I’m grateful that they included this feature in this kit. Also, being able to control the white balance is nice especially for indoor location shoot. I typically use color gels on my strobes to match light color to the environment. However, being able to control this with just the lights themselves reduces the hassle of cutting the gels, trying not to lose them on set, etc. Have you taken a photo by the window and had blue exterior light and orange indoor ambient light mixed with no way to fix it? With this kit you don’t have to worry about that - you can match whatever white balance you like.I believe this is a really useful lighting set for most photographers that take pictures of people (headshots, etc.), particularly those who shoot indoors. However, there are also a couple things I would love to see improved:1: Light stand2: Construction of softboxThis light stand is light and very compact, which makes traveling easier. However, because it’s light, it’s not as stable as I would like. Since the light and softbox together are very light, you might not run into any problems, but it’s something I don’t like to be worried about on set. I would recommend using sand bags for extra security, or simply carrying separate stands. For outdoor shoots, I would recommend using heavier duty light stands to avoid any accidents, especially on rough terrain or with any wind. All that said, these stands are more sturdy than some others from competing kits I’ve tried. The other improvement I would like to see is in the construction of the softbox. You need to use 4 bars to secure the softbox in place - one end of each goes into the LED unit and the other end to each corner of softbox. This may simply be a matter of what you’re used to - I am not as used to this style (even though some very high end lighting uses a similar construction). It’s also true that this is part of the reason the boxes are so light, which is really nice. My recommendation is just to try it out once before you shoot with a client so you’re familiar with the setup.Overall, I am impressed with this lighting kit, especially for the price. If you are a headshot photographer, depending on your style, this kit might be enough to do most of what you need. For the cost, that’s a pretty good deal! :)

Not easy to assemble alone.
Did assemble it but tended to bend one of the rods to get it to fit. Maybe use stretchy black fabric to more easily fit the rods. Also maybe have locks to keep the rods in place so one doesn't fall out as the others are being positioned.

Good lights absurdly difficult hoods to assemble with little help from instruction sheet
Ridiculously tricky to assemble the hood. The written instructions are only vaguely helpful. The light quality is very good, the tripod is about what you’d expect (cheap but adequate). If you do purchase this, these are the hood assembly suggestions I would make:- assemble the hood with the light attached to the stand and work from the front- note that the hood has a notch in the small end which indicates the bottom. These are meant to be used in a vertical orientation (diffusers are rectangular)- 3 of the four hood corners have hard-to-see little pouches for the frame ends, the 4th has a slip-through pouch with a Velcro fastener. Get all 4 frames started with the last one slipping through the special pouch. Then pull up on that corner of the hood to take up the slack, bend the fiberglass frame rods, and fasten the Velcro strap over the little pouch.- close all the Velcro flaps in the back of the hood and attach the diffuser screen (that part is easy)- IT GREATLY HELPS TO HAVE FOUR HANDSEDIT, a few months later: After attempting, and failing multiple times, to re-assemble the hoods once I disassembled them the last time, I hit upon a helpful solution: using duct tape, fasten the support rods into the light mounting holes first so they don't fall out or bend backwards the wrong way when you are stretching the reflector hood over them. Doing this first saved a lot of messing around and failing.

Some Quality Issues or Would be 5 stars/Seems company doesn’t care
I had an important shoot and need soft boxes quickly. Pros: More powerful lighting than I was expecting, stands not bad, Warm/Cool range great, Gels very nice addition. Cons: A little challenging setting up, but knew what I was getting when I read the reviews. Got the hang of it quickly. The one Con that is a major one for me is one of the corners for the soft box was only sewn on 2 sides rather than 3 sides. I can see this in short order slipping and puncturing or completely tearing the soft box. It was only like that on 1 of the 2. However I was expecting a little more quality control. If I didn’t absolutely need it that week and for the next 3 weeks following, I would have returned it. Now I am left wondering when it will rip completely and leave me hanging. I would have gladly give this 5 stars if it were not for the major defect. I see the company doesn’t reply to any of the customer concerns. I don’t think I would recommend them to others because of a lack of company concern with defects and quality control issues.

Great starter kit
Considering it's very reasonable cost, this does exactly what it is supposed to do. The variable brightness feature is great. The only reason it didn't give it 5 stars is that it is very frail. But I leave it set up and assembled so I've had no issues concerning that. I don't think it would hold up well on an industrial scale, but for it's price point, you should not expect it to. With that in mind, be gentle with it and it'll probably function a long time

Great Lights, easy to store
The media could not be loaded. I would like to start by stating I'm no professional photographer, so I don't know these lights to their full capacity. But I bought these for my YouTube videos. I have a pair of regular soft box lights (which I love) but this set is better. You can adjust the lighting and change the tone of the pictures with the filters it brings. I love that you can do a brighter/white light or warm things up. The metal is sturdy. Sturdier than other things I own like a backdrop stand I purchased from another brand a few years ago. This set seems to have a sturdier metal than the soft box lights I bought about a month ago. I did struggle with the metal sticks...but that was complete user error. ( I wasn't paying attention to the manual) I love the case it comes in and the dividers it has. Easy to carry, travel with, and store. It's not heavy at all.
