It works well as long as you mix your mortar thin enough. I had to remove the metal insert and cut a 1/2 inch off the end to make it more funtional. I used it without the metal insert for my particular needs. Easy to clean , just flush well with water and spray nozzel. Clean the inside and any residue from the outside of the bag. Can use over and over!!!

We put in a fireplace at the cabin. Having never done it before it was a learning experience but it was effortless completing the finishing grouting with this tool. It took a couple of tries to get the grout at the right consistency to be able to squeeze it out but once we figured it out wow, it made life so easy! Very easy to clean after using too.

Wir haben den reingespritzen Mörtel dann mit einem Stück Gartenschlauch angedrückt & das Überschüssige damit abgezogen und dann mit den nassen Fingern noch geformt. Oder man nimmt noch eine (Tapeten)Bürste und waschelt nass über die Fugen - fertig ✅ Wichtig ist nur, dass der Mörtel sehr cremig angerührt ist & man muss den Mörtel in der Spritze zügig verarbeiten, damit er an der Spitze nicht schon anzieht und fest wird - dann bekommt man nämlich nichts mehr raus. Das Metallteil haben wir überhaupt nicht benutzt. Er lässt sich auch wieder super reinigen. Klare Kaufempfehlung & Preis-Leistung passt auch!

We found that the bag is too big for the amount of material you can load it with before it blocks. The metal cone inside did not fit securely at the end of the bag and had to be removed to work. We tried different variants of mixture consistency to test if it works better with a wetter mix - it was still not easy to use. Would suggest using a smaller bag made from a strong plastic.

I'm a bricklayer and have tried almost every tool for repointing available but always come back to the 'icing bag'. This is my second one which will replace the exact same model which I've had for 10+ years. Some bad reviews point to the fact you need the mortar mix to be very wet, but this is the case with all repointing tools. The key is to mix the mortar in small batches, thoroughly mixing it dry before adding water. This helps to avoid any lumps which will clog up the nozzle of the mortar bag and make the process highly frustrating. I recommend using a drill with a cheap mixing paddle attachment in a standard bucket, mixing no more than half a bucket full at a time. You're essentially trying to push a coarse sand and cement mix through a nozzle three times the size of the centre of a Polo Mint, so it's never going to be easy and need to manage expectations accordingly. You need to fill the mortar bag no more than 50% and use the remainder of the bag to 'tie up' and put enough pressure behind the mortar mix for it to work. It's tiring on your hands but fairly easy to control once you get going. In summary; not the easiest to use, but a tried and tested tool which is often preferred by professionals.
