I love this, i was very happy to get it. This is related to a past experience with a similar product which i got at Bed Bath and Beyond a very long time ago, 10 or 15 years--the main difference i can see is that the BB&B one was a little bigger, taller, maybe wider--i haven't seen it in a while, i think i threw it away but wish i didn't. I think it was about 5 or 6 inches taller than this one, and the rods that go across that you hang your stuff on were covered in orange plastic instead of white. It was very very lightweight, the price was low, and it held a lot of laundry. I would still be using it but one day while my daughter's family was staying with me, including their dog and cart, i had laundry drying on that rack in the living room. i was in the next room and i heard a loud crash. Cats love to jump on top of things and perch above the world and looked down at everything, and the cat apparently leaped from the ground to try to land on top of the rack, only to find that it was not a sturdy thing to throw her whole weight onto after sailing through the air. the cat is not a small lightweight cat, and when she landed on top of the rack, it readily collapsed. I came in to find it broken on the floor, one of the wood things that goes across had broken. I didn't want to throw it away, BB&B didn't have them anymore, and i used tape to try to repair the broken bar, but it didn't hold together. i still kept in the garage for a long time. I replaced it with something from BB&B, it was a metal folding one, i guess steel, chrome, i got two of them because they were a lot smaller than the beloved broken rack. They were so heavy and difficult to move around and store, and hard to attach in the upright position. I really hated those racks and got so i just hung things on chairs and tables around the house, keeping the expensive racks in the garage. I looked on Amazon and eBay but could not find anything lightweight. I had loved the lightweightness of the other rack, how easy it was to pick it up and move it around, and to fold it up and put it behind the door on of the laundry room, it really folded up nice and compact, for something so big that held so much laundry. So, i've been living with having to dry a lot of things hanging on doorknobs and things, and recently i checked Amazon again for a rack, and this one sounded similar--i compared the measurements and knew it wasn't quite as big as my previous rack, but other than that, it was the same, the plastic coated bars, the lightweight wood, and pretty wide, with three levels and the extra bars across the top, folded up really flat. Painless price. Prime shipping. I had it in two days. I was so happy to unfold it and put it up and wished i had not just done the laundry a couple of days before, which is what inspired me to shop on line that night. I could see it's the same as the rack i had before, just slightly smaller. I wish i could find one the same size as my other one but i've long since given up on that--not one that is lightweight and not expensive--so i have been very happy with this rack. That day just felt happy all day. I got chocolate stains on a hoodie and on a nightgown, so i hand washed the stains out and then hung them on the rack and they dried well. The rack standing up with laundry on it easily fit in the laundry room, i didn't even have to put it in the living room and when i folded it up, it easily fit behind the door. Before i bought this, i read the low rated reviews and wondered if mine would arrive broken as one person experienced. It didn't. I don't think i'd put a heavy bath towel or anything really heavy on it, but it seems fine for now---it's light, it could easily be broken if a heavy cat jumped on it, but if i handle it careful as i did with its predecessor, i think it's going to last a long time. if not, i'll update my review, but i will also quickly replace it, it's exactly what i need, and i might get an additional one if find a need for it, or if i just want to have a back up. One thing about the previous one i had that i am not sure about, my memory is vague, but i think on the top it opened wider than the lower levels, so that you had some distance from the two bars on the top level that were on the outside to hang pants or long things. i saw a much smaller one of these on the same page as this product where they show similar items, but it's a lot smaller (not as tall) which kind of defeats the purpose. Anyway, my own feelings about this rack are happy and i have no complaints even though clearly it is cheaply made, probably in China, and for the price, that is the realistic expectation, that it would be a very simple and less than sturdy item. Again, it's like my other one and that one lasted years and years. I was gentle with it. It did lose balance if i wasn't careful to make sure the attaching thing was securely on, it would fall if i didn't make sure that thing was attached. It's not the rock of Gibraltar.

As long as my kids don't mess with it it's perfect! Lightweight, easy to fold and put away when not in use. It's not sturdy but it holds a full load of my kids laundry. It was easy to set up and folds into a compact size to store when not in use.

[UPDATE]: I bought a 2nd one of these just now (August 2015) after my first one in June 2013. I love the first one and still have it (my original review is below), but our laundry needs have increased. But MAN something has happened in 2 years -- the one that came today is TERRIBLE quality with splinters, dents and chips all over it. The whole thing is really rough to the touch too (it has obviously not been sanded properly), so much so that I think it will damage clothing. I uploaded a photo of just one major splinter on a supposedly brand new product! It also doesn't fold flat easily! My first one just perfectly folds in on itself. This new one won't go all the way flat since it rubs against itself so much. Needless to say this new one is going back and I do NOT recommend this product anymore. My first review was 5 stars, but I'm changing it to 1. Argh it's so frustrating to *think* you've found a brand/product that you can rely on, only to have the hassle of a cheap piece of crap to deal with. I'm going to try the AmazonBasics one I guess. Do NOT buy this product! This company should be ASHAMED of itself for the drastic plunge in quality. This is UNACCEPTABLE! Boo! [ORIGINAL REVIEW, 5 stars, June 2013, entitled "WAY better than the cheap one with the white bars"]: Bought this one after our old cheapo with the white bars started chipping nasty white stuff all over our clean clothes. Definitely worth the extra money, and it's also way sturdier. Glad I bought this, and have had no problems with discoloration or warping or anything like that.

The folding wooden clothes drying rack is easy to use, convenient and light-weight. This is not a rugged heavy duty clothes rack to say the least. I have owned one exactly like it, in construction and size, for about 10 years. I am able to hang 6 long sleeve dress shirts on the inside of the rack, after washing on delicate, and the rack easily holds the weight. I can also hang 4-6 more on the outside of the rack and it still holds up well. SAFETY TIP: I like to attach two fairly heavy rubber bands near the inside ends of the top dowel to keep the rack from collapsing when I take laundry on and off. I have had heavier items, like 2 small loop rugs (22in x 34in each), on the rack to dry after washing and the rack holds up well, but, the title of the item says “Clothes Drying Rack”; so proceed with other heavier items at your discretion. The rack does have potential to collapse or break with heavier items. Indeed I broke my last rack by tripping on it and the dowels snapped in two places. Bad dog that I am. The rack is a simple dowel and slat construction. The dowels are inserted into slat’s tight openings and easily rotate when using the rack. The dowels have a white coating on the outside. I will assume it is to help protect them from wet items? Still, I am very pleased with the rack and can recommend it highly. Just keep the heavy weight items to a minimum or not at all. Made in Canada.

This drying rack has been super handy for my laundry setup. It comes fully assembled, so you just unfold it and it’s ready to use. The wooden build feels sturdy and can hold a surprising amount without tipping over. I love that it folds down flat for storage when not in use perfect for small spaces. It’s way better quality than the cheap plastic ones I’ve tried before.

Very flimsy. Barely stands up without anything on it. Returned and purchased the all wood option. Definitely worth paying for the all wood - very sturdy.

Originally bought to have an area to dry the pool towels when my kids came to visit, with the remembrance of the one my mom had in the 60’s (which I used well into the 70’s when I first moved into my own place.) I figured when they left I could use to dry the throw rugs for you never have a place to do so and don’t want to put thru the dryer. The towel drying is OK and since it is bamboo can use or stay outside. Not nearly as tall as that old one by any means which was a surprise, but that is OK. The old one was vinyl over wood and tended to shrink and fall apart over time especially as was near the heater to dry things in San Francisco. This is lovely bamboo, well finished and is satin smooth. I love the touch!! Assembles very easily, just unfold and hook. Watch it though if you move it for it unhooks just as easily! Stores super neat taking little room. Works great for the rugs, even the larger ones, at least a 3’ x 5’ holds very well across the top or two smaller. Have done some on the top and more on the lower rungs. I have now left it up in the nook of the laundry room and hand my extra hangers in the middle range….they angle a bit but boy can you hang a lot and not in the way. Soooo easy to grab as I pull things out of the dryer! I love my little station. Now my many hangers, which are ALWAYS a mess, are tidy, nearby and I can still put the rugs on top when I need. I also use the top as a bit of a folding area too as the height is comfortable. Oh yeah….Since I have left it up I have used some twist ties on the hooks so it stays more secure just in case I move it and all my hangers go… Would highly recommend!

What I expected feels a little flimsy but they all are in my opinion
