KTEB-140-1-TP-EMI 1 Lamp F40T12 Electronic Ballast 120 Volt

My 30-year old Steelcase light fixture for an office desk unit with a single 40W T12 fluorescent tube had become increasingly difficult to start up, always needing a few clicks of the switch. Changing the lamp had little effect, so I knew it had to be the ballast, which was an Advance RL-140-TP (no longer available). I found a ballast at Home Depot that was rated for one or two 40W T12 tubes, but it only lit the tube to about 1/4 brightness. Maybe it really needs to have two 40W tubes, rather than one? Anyway, I ordered this one, installed it, and it worked great - always starts up with full brightness. Unlike the much longer Home Depot ballast, this one was the same dimensions as the original with the same mounting bolt locations. The only thing I needed to do was extend the LINE wires a bit to reach the power cord and switch wires. I'm very happy!

Replaced old magnetic ballast with this new electronic ballast, it is great to no longer hear the humming of the ballast. The replacement was straightforward.

This was a quick and easy replacement for the discontinued RL-140-TP ballast. It was smaller and lighter than the original but used the same mounting holes in the lamp fixture, so physically swapping it was easy. The leads were long enough to reach the ends of the lamp and the instruction diagram made connection simple. The wiring was slightly different than the older ballast, so some cutting and stripping of the wires was needed and a few extra wire nuts were required. The lamp now appears brighter, but that might just be because the old ballast was failing.

We got it installed and it would not work! My husband just found out there is no power to the wires coming from the ballast although the wires coming in from the ceiling have power. My husband is not well and it’s difficult for him to work on it and that’s why we are just figuring out that it doesn’t work!

I needed a RL-140-TP, which of course is almost impossible to find, this did actually replace it! The only thing was that my old unit had 5 wires, and this one had 6, it took a few minutes to figure what to do? But it was because of how my old fixture was wired, once I understood the wire tracing it went in simply :-)
