Super smooth! Great drag
The Daiwa BG MQ reel is very smooth and has an excellent drag system. Very high quality materials and build. I purchased the 3000 for inshore fishing and I love it.Update: This reel is even better that I expected. I caught two 30+ LB sting rays back to back. They were going with the current so both ran off 75-80 yards of line twice. The drag did get warm on the second one but for a small reel it performed flawlessly! I was impressed enough that I bought another one after using the first one.

Great saltwater reel in the surf.
Did a lot of research on saltwater reels for the surf and this one came up so I gave it a try and will be getting more! Incredibly smooth , very well sealed from saltwater intrusion, easy to clean and service and much lighter than all the other reels in the same category I was checking out. Great drag!! Caught a 15# stingray accidentally in the surf and had no problem landing it, surf perch are no match!

Nice smooth reel. I got the 10000. Wish the drag knob had more click to it. Kinda feels like tightening a jar. All my other Daiwa’s click and feel better. Drag seems to work fine. Just wish the knob had a better feel when adjusting the drag pressure

Great reel for saltwater
This reel has been performing for me over a year now and still working. You should rinse all your reels off after coming out of saltwater and they will last a lifetime. Add a little oil once a year ..

Quality!
Fisherman that are familiar with the Daiwa BG MQ series will most likely recommend this reel. I look forward to MANY years of use. What's good and bad about some products is they are built so well they out-live their parts. I say because another Daiwa I owned (Capricorn) and lost a part during cleaning only to find NOBODY had parts anymore for that reel.

Best all around sub $200 spinning reels
I have the 2500 and 3000 sizes right now. They're low maintenance, super smooth, strong drag, and can handle any fish you hook. The only negative I've found is the chrome plate on back of reel gets green and corroded from the elements. (Doesn't effect performance) It would be nice if Daiwa made some flat black replacement pieces for them. These are my favorite reels and I will add more as my older reels wear out.
