they worked well for my application
Bought this as a replacement for one that had expired, I think I fried the last one so can't really complain about the quality. the last one lasted many years (on a Dobsonian Telescope) using my Dob Buddy Bluetooth encoder system.

Actually works at USB-5Volts, many others do not.
These all look the same and there are cheaper ones on the web. However, many do not work when powered from a USB socket as the voltage is very slightly less than 5V. These particular ones DO work. Therefore 5 stars. Please don't change your supplier as I will be buying more.

Great quality. Works as expected.
I needed an encoder with a higher counts/turn than the KY-40. This one is a bit more expensive, but the quality is great and it works perfectly. Be sure to use resistors between the ChA and ChB pins to pull up, rather than connecting directly to Vcc. I'm running mine through an ESP8266 so also need to level shift to 3.3v.The motion is smooth with only a small amount of resistance from the bearings.
