Bad threads.
Replaced a commercial mortise lock with the deadbolt body component. Then attempted to gently and softly screw the old cylinders into this body, even using the usual counterclockwise start to line it up. Old (standard) cylinders would not thread. Turns out the threads on the lock body are too rough and will not thread with any of the cylinders I tried. Last thing in the world you would want is a commercial lockset where you cannot replace the cylinders. Had another brand in stock. It worked fine. Too late to return this junk. I'll trash it.
