Absolutely useless against fungal gnats
I tried layering this on the soil of my indoor plant to control an infestation of fungal gnats.. the gnats happily walk all over the diatomaceous earth and continue to thrive. I dont know if that's an indication of the efficacy of this product against gnats or the general efficacy of diatomaceous earth against gnats. If you are planning to get this to control gnats.. dont.

Purchased as the last resort for fungus gnats. Haven't used yet, but confident will do the job.
Winter temps or rocks have resolved gnat problem, but want on hand for spring.

Immediate results!
We're trying to grow herbs indoors this year so we have fresh ingredients all year 'round but sadly it appears it's still warm enough for fruit flies and fungus gnats to wreak havoc in our kitchen.I've heard of Diatomaceous Earth before but never had a need for it until now, but I've never gardened indoors before either and never had an infestation this bad ever.I was amazed! Within the first two hours of sprinkling it the gnats and flies were stumbling around like they were drunk, seven hours later they're practically gone with only a few stragglers left. You only need a little bit to get the job done and even though it's not toxic I recommend using gloves if possible because the power gets all over your hands otherwise.

Natural way to keep grain and coop insect-free
Having used diatomaceous earth for several years now, I find that this Insecto brand food-grade diatomaceous earth works just as well at keeping pests at bay as all of the other brands I have purchased throughout the years. The Insecto bag is resealable and contains half a pound of fine DE, and for the price, I think it is a good value. This amount is sure to last me several months, as I use it sparingly throughout the house and in my animals' living quarters.I mainly use Insecto DE for my chicken coop by sprinkling some on top of fresh bedding whenever I change the bedding inside of the coop. I sprinkle the natural DE around the edges and throughout the bedding as well. I have previously also used it by spreading it where my chickens like to take dust-baths. On occasion, I sprinkle a bit of DE on the pellet feed so that it stays fresh and insect free, which is why food-grade and natural is so important to me. So far, I have not noticed insects or ants where I spread DE.In addition, diatomaceous earth works well at keeping ants from entering your home. In the early summer, I use it to repel fire and common ants that like to find their way into my house. For all of the reasons mentioned above, I believe Insecto food-grade DE is a safe and valuable product and I recommend it.
