I do not have a real answer. I have an automatic. With a manual, I would be concerned that the knob on your shift can be removed, so check that first. Second, I am not sure this device would stop someone from being able to shift the gears into a position and remove it from either end. That being said, if you are really trying to protect your car (quite sensible), I would order the device, treat it respectfully, and see if you can lock it on the brake and gear shift in a way that the gear stick cannot be moved even when you press the shift peddle and try to wiggle the stick. If not successful, I am pretty sure you can return this within 30 days (check this) and they are not hurting for sales, so someone will outright buy it if you do not. It definitely beats a club on the steering wheel. I hope this helps, even just a little.
