Must Buy!
We foster dogs and this was a must have since they are all microchipped. Great and easy to use. Works great.

Great reader- used it on Fi Nano microchips
This read RFID ear tags perfectly. One note- it can't read a dog microchip in the package- I'm guessing because the metal needle blocks the signal. Once the microchip was out of the needle and in the dog, it worked perfectly. I used it on the Fi Nano chips. 10 outta 10 recommend.

It Works!
I live in a rural area where we get a lot of visitor cats that never have collars or tags, so it's hard to discern whether they're strays or just outdoor cats. We also see a lot of dogs just roaming the neighborhood and surrounding area that also typically don't have collars or tags. The closest veterinary office is a 20-30 minute drive, so bringing an animal in to check for a microchip would be a process. I figured I would give this thing a shot because it would be nice to have a scanner on hand to at least check if an animal is microchipped. Operation is one button, and the scanner picks up chips instantly as soon as one is near. I tested it on my own animals and it was very easy to find their microchips. You do need to be quite close but that's typically how these scanners work. I couldn't quite figure out the software though. It just seemed to give me the option of changing settings rather than being able to view the tag numbers I had already scanned. Overall, if you care about stray animals and want an option to be able to check if an animal is chipped, this is a great option for keeping in your car or in a handbag as it is very small and lightweight, and it works very well.

Works and worth the money.
Was able to scan out dog and got able to find her microchip number (the number is blacked out in the picture). It did not work with our cats, but they were chipped over 10 years ago and the product description did indicate that it doesn't work with all chips. I was able to lookup up our dog's microchip number on Aaha.org and found the microchip company it was last registered to so that we could update our dog's info. Glad I got it.

A must for pet chip reading and people that pull over for lost pets
Bought this because we have a black lab that we take to daycare when we travel. Black labs look A LOT alike. We have taken him to out of town daycares a few times and, more than once, they have brought out another black lab at pickup. I'd like to think I know my dog, but in the hurry of busy doggy daycare pickup, things can happen. I got this for two reasons. First, to scan his chip at daycare pickup. Second, to scan loose dogs that seem to be a common thing in our neighborhood. For this price point, it's a great product. When I tried it, it was easy to scan and brought up our dogs chip number accurately. A simple Google search or two will get you the info you need to find the owner info. I plan to keep this in my car for when I find a loose pup to see if there is a chip. If you're one of those people (like me) that always pulls over for lost looking dogs, this is a great tool to have.

Reads recent microchip formats, but not older ones, as expected. Documentation could be better.
This is a nice unit. It works fast and easy with our 4 younger cats, but can't read the older chip format on our 14 year old. I expected this. A unit that can read ALL microchips is available, costing 10x as much. I don't think I need that. The documentation isn't great. The listing tells you that you can download all the microchip numbers you read, as it keeps an internal listing of them, but not how to download, and it isn't obvious nor do they give you any clue. Here's how: You connect the device to your computer with a USB cable. Open a blank Notepad file. Then press the button on the device for 5 seconds, and it will transmit all the numbers in memory to that file, which you can then save.

accurate and quick
Great chip reader, very accurate and works quickly. Battery lasts a very long time. I haven’t even charged it since I bought it. Highly recommend.

Does not read chips
⭐️☆☆☆☆ Does Not Read Chips: A Paperweight in an Emergency I bought this scanner to have peace of mind for my pets, but it has been a total disappointment. Despite being listed as "Amazon's Choice" and claiming to support both 134.2kHz and 125kHz frequencies, it consistently fails to detect or read actual microchips. The Main Issues: Total Failure to Read: I tested this on my own pets (who I know are chipped and have had their chips verified by a vet), and the scanner repeatedly showed "No Tag" or simply stayed in scanning mode until it timed out. Poor Sensitivity: Unlike professional vet scanners, the antenna in this unit is very weak. Unless you are touching the exact millimeter where the chip is located (and the chip hasn't migrated at all), it won't pick up a signal. Incompatibility: While it claims to be "universal," it seems to struggle significantly with common 15-digit ISO chips and 9-digit AVID chips. Pros: It is rechargeable and the screen is bright. Cons: Unreliable: You cannot trust this device to identify a lost pet or verify your own pet's chip. False Sense of Security: If I had found a lost dog with this scanner, I would have assumed it wasn't chipped, which is a dangerous mistake. Verdict: Do not rely on this for animal safety. It is better to spend more on a high-quality universal scanner or simply take a pet to a local vet or shelter where they use professional-grade equipment that actually works. Returning this immediately.
