A Little Expensive but seems good.
I have a Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) device that is setup with 1 drive fault tolerance and It is backed up to the cloud but I wanted to have something I could grab quickly and go if I needed to and know my data on this drive would not only be encrypted but accessible when I need it. This drive should work nicely for this intended purpose. I am using it to mirror about 5TB of data and I wanted something faster and more reliable than a Spinner. This also allows me to be fully in compliance with the 3-2-1 rule. 3 copies - 2 different types of mediums/equipment - and one location being offsite, my NAS HDDs, This External SSD, and an offsite cloud provider. This doesn't matter much if both local mediums get destroyed but that's why I have an offsite cloud too. Also the slightly faster speeds will allow me to access data a little quicker locally if I need to which will be nice.Overall 8tb for a little more than buying a cheap enclosure and a data internal ssd myself. M2s are a lot faster but also easily cost twice as much as this and 3 years warranty seems fine for the price difference of building my own.If you have more than 4tb and don't want to use multiple drives and want some speed this works for now.

LONG TIME USER APPROVED
Edit:Been using this drive for 4 years and it is still going strong. I've been recommending this company ever since. Recently I purchased 8TB for my Macbook Pro 2019 running macOS Catalina and 4TB one for my Xbox. Speeds are faster than before with USB-C. Screenshots of the Crystal Disk Mark speed test are attached.Original review:VectoTech Rapid 500GB USB 3.0 Portable SSD is a great addition to my storage needs. I’ve been using it for some time now, so here is a list of pros and cons.Pros:1. Easy to use, just plug it in.2. Fast transfer speeds. I used BlackMagic speed test and I got 416Mb/s write speed and 421MB/s read speed (screenshot attached).3. Slick look.4. Lightweight (it's only 3.8oz)5. Shock resistant, it’s a plus when you move around a lot.Cons:1. Price. Well, it's an SSD, all of SSDs are pricier than magnetic disk counterparts. I needed the reliability and really wanted the speed, so had to pay a bit more.2. Comes in black. I can see from the picture that it comes also in white and grey, which would match better. Hopefully they will come out soon.Test:Macbook Pro 2015 Retina used for testing, 3 video files ~4.5GB each. Write takes 42 seconds, so it's 13.5GB * 1024 / 42 = 329MB/sRead is 31 seconds, which amounts to ~445Mb/s. I guess speed could be less, if I were copying a lot of small files, but that's tied to particularities of the file system.

DOES NOT WORK WITH NEWER MACBOOKS
I spent 5 to 7 hours attempting to configure this drive to my 2018 MacBook Pro. I also called the company support. Bottom line is drive dismounts EACH AND EVERY TIME you shut down the Mac. DISMOUNTS EACH TIME YOU CLOSE THE LID. The product literature states that it is compatible with Macs. The support person said it hasn’t worked properly with Macs since 2013. Info on box, on Amazon and Company website is not correct. The unit does not work well with newer Macbooks. Granted the installed base of Macs is far smaller than PC’s. And granted that Macs have their issues. Simple truth is it’s a small company that does not have the resources to support the drive’s use with Macs. A very nice little drive as to footprint, but a total waste of you time and money if you are thinking of using with a Mac. Do not buy if you are seeking a compatible drive for the Mac. In fairness to the Company, I did first try the external Samsung ssd that Apple sells in its stores. The Samsung is far worse, not compatible with Mac. My take is the drive might be ok for pc as pc’s are more broadly supported. Also, the reviews mentioning the frail cable and connector are accurate. Further to that, Apple advises to use the Lightning To USB C dongle that is $20. The drive maker claims there is a drive to lightning cable but they can ‘t provide it or tell where to buy it. Support also tried to blame the Apple adapter. I challenged that as the adapter works with my 20 year old printer, my 8 year old ROM and the new stuff as well. Dongle is fine, it’s the drive. Again I fairness to the Company, even large Companies do not support Mac well. Logmein in and GOTOMYPC do not work well on new Macs/Mojave.

Great additional storage solution for my desktop pc
Loved the fact that this was a truly plug and play solution. I have a Dell desktop with a 1.7T hard drive and was getting close to capacity, but the cpu and 64G ram was still more than adequate so I didn't want to get a new pc. Plugging in this extra ssd storage was a great solution. There was no discernable speed degradation. Like I said previously, I just took the drive out of the package, plugged it into the built in USB port on my desktop (no power cord needed) and the pc recognized it and automatically mapped it into Windows File Explorer. 100% satisfied!
