American Easel Oak Yazhi Easel-Golden Finish

I purchased this easel for a high school student to use over the summer to build her portfolio. I was looking for something heavey enough that she could use it out doors without fear of it blowing over in a breeze. (keep in mind that the size of canvas will impact wind resistance/blow over). I couldn't believe the quality when we got this last week. I paid well under the list price here on Amazon and as the daughter of a shop teacher, I am used to "grading" wood work LOL! This easel is oak, it's well finished and the fittings are lovely. It assembled in a few minutes and while it's not made to be portable, it will be pretty easy to move about.We buy a lot of our art supplies from Blick, but they couldn't touch this price and quality. I'm extreamly happy and I recomend this to artists of all levels.

Beautifully-crafted easel made of lovely wood, and it's working perfectly holding the reference materials/photos I need for my paintings. It's light-duty and just right for this purpose. It fits almost perfectly alongside the much-heavier-duty easel I use for painting. The fairly long legs, without a crosspiece too close to the bottom, allow it to be crossed over behind the main easel, and this feature keeps the ref/pix close enough for detailed and precise paintings. Before I was using one of those spindly photography-type tripods which worked OK, but which I much disliked for its ugliness every time I entered my art studio. Now I'm HAPPY! I believe any light-duty use for painting or displaying artwork will work out great.

Smaller than I was expecting, and less stable than I was hoping. I guess for this price I shouldn't be too surprised.One of the legs took a bit of damage in transport.About the only thing I can say for this is that it's made from real wood.If you're a serious artist, you should probably look elsewhere.

The box that the easel came in had no padding, and the box was ripped. I was worried that the easel was hurt, but it wasn't. The wood itself is high quality, and I don't think it wobbles. Of course, I use mine on carpet, so I'm sure any easel would have a little wobble if you used it on hard surfaces.Onto my complaint... one of the tightening brackets you use to slide the frame of the easel up and down became detached and in order to even use the easel I had to somehow fix it or send it back. I called the American Easel Co. direct and asked them what the green stuff was that they used to attach the triangle brackets to the screws and they said Loc Tite. Soooo, instead of sending back the easel, I went to Ace Hardware and bought a $5 tube of the stuff. Put a lot on, let it sit, used it, and it worked fine. Problem solved, but it was a problem I should NOT have had to deal with.

This easel is sturdy, lightweight and very reasonably priced. But, what is really exceptional is the customer service at American Easel. I dropped and broke one of the horizontal canvas holders, so I emailed the company to see if I could buy a replacement part. They wrote back within the hour (it was after business hours!) and offered to send me a replacement, no questions asked and no charge. I received the new piece in three days via UPS and they also enclosed a beautifully made 12 x 8 birch painting panel. I highly recommend this product. Oh, and this current price on Amazon is almost half what I paid.

ugh. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for an easel. This one is not at all sturdy and very easy to bump and send the whole thing toppling over. I think that happens because it has a very small, flimsy hinge that connects the third leg to the front, and all the legs are so light and narrow, it feels very top-heavy and imbalanced.Also, when it first came I couldn't adjust the parts that hold the canvas in place at all. They were too tight! I actually had to sand down the wood just to get any kind of adjustment at all! What a bother!On a positive note, I did appreciate that it is solid oak, but....that's about it.

Bought this easel for my 12 year old for Christmas in all the hustle bussle I did'nt have time to return it { my fault } but... the chain is screwed into the easel crooked and it will not stand straight.... two days after Christmas the top holder snapped off... the wood is no stronger than the airplanes you buy at the hobby store that you wind with a the rubber band I'm disappointed but ran out of shopping time hence this purchase. My own fault my 12 year old has not used it since December 27th.....

Exactly what I ordered and hoped for. Bearing in mind I am 65 and just getting started in art I knew I needed an easel if I was going to get it right. This easel is of a high quality, stable and VERY easy to put together when it arrives. I am not sure you should even say "put together". It comes pretty much assembled already. A few simply moves and you are painting instantly. Fast arrival and good quality and excellent price.
