It’s real, you just need to take care of it the right way
I understand a lot of people don’t think this is real silk because the texture changes after the first wash. That’s likely because they are using the incorrect detergent. Silk is a protein based fiber and the stain fighting agents in regular detergents are usually enzymes. That’s why it’s vital to ONLY use an enzyme free delicates detergent.Using an enzyme detergent on a protein-based fiber means the enzymes will break down the silk fibers over time, resulting in holes in your pillowcase in less than a year. Furthermore, that change in texture is likely a result from a film left behind by an enzyme detergent.Personally I use Heritage Park Luxury Silk & Wool Detergent. It never alters the texture of my silks and makes cleaning and maintaining them a breeze. My silks are the easiest of all my clothes to wash as a result.Below is a step-by-step guide to cleaning and maintaining your silk pillowcase:1) Wash it inside out and zip it part way so it can’t flip in the wash. The silky side should only brush against itself in the wash. This is on top of following the manufacturer’s directions of cold water delicate cycle and enzyme free delicate detergent. You can use a laundry bag for extra protection but it’s not super vital.2) Hang to dry. I don’t care if you dryer has an air dry setting. The air dry cycle can cause damage so please just hang it. It’ll be dry in like 2 hours on a cold day with no sunlight and in half an hour on a warm day with plenty of sun (but don’t dry it in direct sun).Optional step 3) Iron it inside out. Use the silk or low setting on your iron. Don’t steam it, the heat is too high and will cause damage over time. The key with maintenance is to be gentle. If you throw it in with your regular wash, use the wrong detergent, and put it in the dryer it’ll have holes in it within a year.I’ve have mine for three years and it’s made a noticeable difference in my skin and hair. My skin is dry and sensitive and with this pillowcase I don’t wake up with dry patches around my chin and mouth anymore. My hair is less frizzy and greasy too and doesn’t break as easily as before. This is definitely worth the money but you do need to take the time to properly take care of it once a week.

No longer silky after first wash following manufacturer's instructions
I wish I listened to the other reviewer's advice that this pillow case is terrible after the first wash. I purposely ordered one pillow case instead of two, so I would not waste double the money if my pillow case came out bad after the first wash. I followed the manufacturer's instructions and used a mild detergent, gentle cycle, cold water, and line dry. I even have a front loading washer so there is no agitator; additionally, I put this in a delicate's bag and it still came out not silky like it was when I first got it. There is the faintest silky feeling to the pillowcase. This is not a cheap pillow case and I'm extremely disappointed my money was wasted. After researching other silk pillowcases, this one had some of the highest ratings and I liked that it was zippered and 25 Momme and the natural color. I'm curious if I steam cleaned this pillow case if it would remain as silky as it was when I originally received the product. The pillow case was packaged in a nice box with a hand written note, but that doesn't mean anything if the product is ruined after one wash and following the manufacturer's instructions.

Nice, good price
The Celestial case is nice. Great presentation, though an excess of plastic. I bought this pillowcase and another, more expensive one from Sephora. The pillowcases rated the same-- 5 stars for smoothness, sheen, comfort, etc., until I washed them. Both were machine washed and line dried. Both wrinkled about the same. Without ironing the Sephora case continues to feel silky. The Celestial case does not. It also lost some shine and feels rough against my skin. I need to iron the Celestial case to see if the sheen and smoothness return. On the other hand, I prefer the zipper case that Celestial offers.Likely, the satin weave of the Sephora case has a longer float than that of the Celestial. Thus, it feels smooth and silky without ironing. There is a considerable price differential between the two pillowcases, also something to consider. For what it's worth, my cat likes both! My husband does too.

I had previously left a review that I really liked this pillowcase
Recently, I ordered a silk pillowcase from Celestial Silk. I really like the pillowcase. I liked the way my hair looked when I got up, was not tangled or really messed up. I also liked the way my face felt. It seemed like my face was much smoother and that some of my moisturizer was still on my face. With the cotton pillowcase, my face was drier almost like the cotton pillowcase had absorbed the moisturizer. A week or so ago, the zipper broke in my pillowcase. I was disappointed but still liked the feel of the silk pillowcase. I wrote a 2 star review on Amazon. Shortly after that, I got an email from Kathleen at Celestial Silk saying that she was sorry that I had a pillowcase with a defective zipper and that she was going to replace my pillowcase. She also sent me a return postage label. Kathleen also let me know when my pillowcase was being shipped and when it had been delivered. The customer service at Celestial Silk is awesome. If you are looking for a silk pillowcase, you will not be disappointed with this beautiful pillowcase and should there be any problems with your pillowcase, you will received excellent customer service from Celestial Silk.

25 Silk Pillowcase - Real or Not Real?
ANSWERS ARE OUTSTANDING- cases were unwrapped in the delivery package- no labeling to confirm the material as 100% mulberry silk- no labeling to confirm the silk weight as 25 momme- actual dimensions are 19" x 29" versus the advertised 20" x 30"- side zipper was short length and located on the side, but managed to put in a Queen size silk pillow. This acceptable. However, the threading work is not robust and questionable to how long it will work before the joints separate.*** Need confirmation that material is indeed 25mm silk as advertised... "100% Silk Pillowcase for Hair Zippered Luxury 25 Momme Mulberry Silk Charmeuse Silk on Both Sides". Would actually request a copy of the labels that are missing. This is very important to me personally and is very important to Canadian consumers.*** Please note that we did a burn test on a piece of the threading and it proved to not be silk. Why is this when this is supposed to be Luxury silk? Puts great suspicion on whether the fabric is 100% Mulberry silk as advertised.*** Will be willing to upgrade the 2 Stars upon satisfactory response to these concerns.

Not Silk
Unfortunately, this pillowcase is not made of silk. First of all, I received the wrong colour. I ordered natural non-dyed silk and got blue. The stitching on this was, well, atrocious, so I cut a swatch from the inside (behind the zipper), did a burn test and it failed, miserably. Not only did the entire swatch catch on fire, it smelled of burned plastic and did not produce ash, which silk does. This just burned into a plastic blob. I wouldn’t recommend buying.

Was NOT Silk
This product description is inaccurate and is cheap polyester fabric. I would NOT recommend purchasing this product unless you want the look of shinny pillowcases.

Not roomy enough
Silk fabric is lovely, however, the length of the pillowcase is a few centimetres short and buckles the pillow slightly. I’ve tried it on a couple of pillows with the same result. The Australian standard pillow seems to be bigger than the standard pillowcase supplied.

Poor quality
The silk is poor quality and the pillowcase came with snags in the silk. In addition, I received a different colour than I ordered (blue instead of charcoal gray)
