A n important story about family, friendships and hope
Thank you to the author and Simon and Schuster for sharing an ARC with our #bookexpedition group!Jamella is a seventh grader who has a passion for writing. Someday she wants to be an award winning journalist, like her late grandfather, and she’s working toward that goal as the features editor of her school newspaper. When she learns that her father has to go overseas for six months for work, she and her three sisters and mom are heartbroken. Jam decides to write an amazing article that will make her dad super proud, but does so at the cost of a new friendship with a boy named Ali. On top of that, her family is shocked to receive news about her younger sister’s health. Not only is this an important story about family, friendships and hope, but the journalism piece that focuses on the microaggressions that today’s students face is important and powerful. Highly recommend this MG novel and I’ll be picking up a copy when it publishes on 9/3.Be sure to read the author’s note about the connection between this story and Little Women.

Great Tween Book Selection! Would highly recommend!
What a fantastic book for a not-so-fantastic time in the US. I chose this title to be the first selection for our Diverse Voices virtual book club. Our club was a blend of grown-ups and middle grade students and all loved this book from start to finish. The book walks you through life with a Muslim family in America, as told by one of their 4 daughters. Khan was inspired by her own childhood favorite, Louisa May Alcott's Little Women. Khan's book, More To The Story, harkens back to Alcott's text with lovely details that Little Women fans will appreciate. If you are interested in broadening the diversity of voices on your bookshelf, or just looking for a wonderful book to read with your tween, I cannot recommend this book enough.

Perfect book with a great message!
I loved this book! I think it is great for kids and adults alike. The family relationships are wonderful. They love each other dearly but still have their arguments. The book brings up important issues facing Muslim Americans in school like micro-aggression, dating and pure racism. It also shows how Muslims and non-Muslims live similar lives in terms of love and family and coming together in times of crisis. One of the daughters gets cancer and the whole community comes together. Such a great book with such a positive message!!!

Modern day Little Women
I absolutely love this book! It is about four sisters, their relationship with each other, growing up, middle school, illness, friends, and more. I was immediately sucked into their world and felt right at home. It reminded me so much of my sisters and myself, and also of one of my most favorite books about sisters, Little Women. When I got to the end and read the author's note, I was delighted to see that it was one of her favorites as well. I cannot wait to share this book with readers young and old! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced digital copy!

A Beautiful Story
I chose this book because I’m trying to absorb all the ways Little Women is still shared 150 years later, and I’m so glad this particular book found me! What an interesting, delightful read. Each of the four sisters’ names starts with the letter of the corresponding March sister, and there are quite a number of parallel events and characters. I also loved that the family is Muslim and shows that aspect of life in such a positive way. The characters are well developed, interesting and very real. I highly recommend this book!

Little Women in spades
This is an interesting take on Little Women, as it takes place in modern times, is the story of four Muslim girls, and takes place outside Atlanta Georgia. Other than that, not much changes. :)It is a cute interpretation, and the narrator has a good voice, and is very stubborn.

Brilliant.
Khan's modern take on the classic Little Women is a fabulous fit for today's middle grade readers. Charming young characters and their relationships with the adult characters and among one another make it easy to fall into friendship with this family, and the obstacles they face make it difficult to put it down.
