I have looked everywhere for the Japanese short grain rice I loved when I was stationed in Japan. Thanks so much for carrying it.

This is real Japanese short-grain rice. It's generally more appropriate for Japanese cuisine that California-grown medium-grain rice, which is sometimes misleadingly marketed as "sushi rice".You can probably get a better price/lb from another brand if you buy a large bag, but I don't use Koshikihari rice often enough to justify buying 11 pounds at a time. This product comes in a more manageable 3.3 lb quantity and it's very well packaged, with an attractive outer bag divided into individual 2-cup portions inside. The inner bags with silica packets keep the product protected and fresh until you use it up.It has been suggested in the reviews that there's an attempt to mislead the consumer because the individual bags are not really 2 cups. However, this refers to rice-cooker cups. Each packet is 300 grams and is indeed 2 rice-cooker cups (something like 1.5 measuring cups).You can buy any of the regional varieties sold under this brand name with confidence in the quality and freshness of the product.

I always cook rice 2 go's, so this is perfect for me. It would be more desirable if it was MUSENMAI.

This is my second order of this rice. There may be other brands equal in cost and quality -- but I won't bother looking for them. The product is tops. The individual packets (5 of them) have just the right amount of rice for my wife and I. Each is sealed to retain freshness. For sushi rice or risotto, the texture is perfect!

The bag of rice I received said it was milled on March 29, 2021 and best used by March, 29, 2022. I know many foods are safe to use past their expiration, but they usually do not taste the same. I won’t use this much rice before the end of this month. Why was I given rice that is getting ready to expire?

I looked at the rice and said to myself this did not look like 2 cups at all so I measured abs sure enough it was not even close. 3 of the small bags I measured 4 1/2 cups and that’s what I normally make every time I make rice they really need to put more rice in these bags and so trying to fool people. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT NOTICED THIS?

I’m unhappy that I bought this rice for sushi (December 2022) and the best used by date is March 2023. It was milled in March 2022. I’d appreciate a package with a longer time frame from the manufacturer . I guess Amazon is not the vendor to buy perishable items.
