Mars Carbon Lead, 2mm, 2B, 12 Lead (200-2B)

I have used these Carbon pencil lead for 45 years. They are the best replacement leads.

A little pricey, but the pencil it goes with is great and well engineered.

Exactly what I needed. I have been using Staedtler Mars products for years.

I’ve been using the Staedtler Mars Carbon 2mm 4B leads at home for sketching, shading, and general doodling, and they’ve been great so far. The 4B is nice and dark without needing a ton of pressure, so lines feel really smooth and “buttery” on the page. In a lead holder they feel a bit more serious and precise than a regular wooden 4B pencil, which I weirdly enjoy alot. Because they’re 4B, there are a couple trade-offs: the leads wear down pretty fast, so you’ll be sharpening more often, and if you press too hard they can snap. Also, they do smudge if you drag your hand across the page, so left-handed writing with these probably isn’t ideal. But for sketching, loose diagrams, and shading, the softness is kind of the whole point, and they erase cleanly enough for a dark lead. Overall, if you want rich, dark lines from a 2mm clutch pencil and don’t mind a bit of sharpening and smudging, this is a solid little tray to keep in your desk drawer.

Works as should and came in the conditions it should be arriving- intact, no broken or missing lead pieces. The sharper isn’t much of a sharpener, it doesn’t have a blade, it’s just a plastic mold to shape the lead but kinda doesn’t sharpen much.

Very nice leads, with a nice soft line for drawing, which is what I needed them for. All the leads arrived unbroken, though the dispenser was a bit difficult to figure out. Look up the video " Staedtler's clever lead tray dispenser and how the leadholder got its hardness indicator" by Bleistift on YouTube for a demonstration. Btw, the purple plastic piece is a *lead hardness indicator* made to go into the top of the Staedler pencil. One of the photos by a reviewer here shows it inserted into the lead dispenser, which is not its purpose. The Bleistift video shows how to use it. Overall a great product at a great price!
