MAGNUMRTS82DG RT Step for Dodge Ram Crew Cab (Light Duty/Heavy Duty)

Installed on a 2016 RAM Rebel 1500. I love these rails but you need to have a strong constitution when you are first faced with the prospect of installing these! When I first opened up the box of hardware I felt a distinct sensation of being overwhelmed wash over me. That was a big box of bolts, washers and nuts there in front of me. I spent no less than an hour researching the internet on how to install these. As I compared the instructions to what I was learning on the internet it became more clear. Then it was a matter of sorting the different sized bolts, washers and nuts and figuring out by the number of pre-drilled holes which sizes went where. There is a bracket on the drivers side, toward the front. I had to remove that to get the driver side to bolt on. Otherwise, I only stripped out one nut. Getting your fingers in behind those rail brackets to bolt to the mounting brackets was tricky but I have a 10 year old daughter that wanted to help, thankfully so I let her get those bolts in then I just came in behind her and tightened things up. I have almost exactly 10" of clearance with the stock tires/wheels that came on the truck, in "Normal" riding mode (adjustable suspension is stock on my truck). My wife and kids LOVE them! Now my wife actually likes going places in the truck, with me!

Update- called ici and sent the pics in. Diana in returns sent a replacement for the passenger side immediately. Any American made product with great customer Service gets 5 stars from me. Plus, they look great and if you mount them correctly, they are very sturdy!got the drop steps today. immediately checked the contents to verify the condition was good. everything was packaged and looked amazing. as others have said, there are a lot of nuts and bolts to this product vs a direct bolt on. no worries, I watched the video on youtube as I installed and bypassed the instructions completely. I got the drivers side completely on and was happy with the look and feel. I moved to the passenger side and quickly put all the supports on because I knew what I needed an how to install. everything is perfect until I realize that they shipped 2 drivers side steps. unbelievable! I verified the drivers side was correct because there is an indent in the front for fender flares. the passenger side had the indent on the rear and the middle support bracket is way off and there is no way to attach the middle. I finished the install because I was too far in at that point and I am not driving with one board on. contacted ici immediately and waiting to see what they will do. if they handle It correctly, I will give this 4-5 stars. 4 because they are a pain to install. they should make them direct bolt on and it would take 20 minutes max to install. im good with tools and installs and this still took 2 1/2 hours by myself to install. 5 stars because they look badass and seem very sturdy.

As many before me have stated, this product looks great and is great quality but holy s**t is it ever a pain in the @$$ to install. In the driveway allocate about 2.5hrs per side. Instructions are 100% useless. I found this video that was more informative than the instruction sheet ([...]). If you thought Ikea instructions were bad wait until you see these. The driver's side takes the longest to install because there is a cross-member that needs to be either temp removed so that the bracket can be sandwiched between it and the frame rail or the other option is to cut the bracket so it clears the cross-member. Nowhere in the instructions does it mention this but after some searching around on the web that was the general consensus on the truck forums. These steps were installed on a 2016 Ram 1500 Tradesman Edition so keep in mind these issues may not apply to other models. The last issue that I can across when installing the steps was that the two front holes on the frame had nut shells in it already from the factory. So as instructed I attempted to use the single strap, instead of the tri-strap. However, the hole was too small for the hardware to fit into. Instead, I had to grind down the strap until it was small enough to just slip into the factory cut frame hole. All in all the product itself is good. Some revisions definitely need to be made for the 2016 model Ram's and the instructions need to be scrapped and re-thought out.

Pros. Ist these steps offer stone / gravel protection of truck rocker panels that other step tubes do not provide. They fit directly under rocker panel of truck cab. 2nd for shorter people, like my wife and daughters, the step loop on these is lower than other step tubes, making it easier for them to climb in. I'm 6'1" and even I use the steps. 3rd I wanted a "different look". I didn't want my truck to look like all the other Ram Crew Cabs I seen.Cons. Only 2 notes: 1st... these steps are made of carbon steel. The paint has been perfect on main board area so far after 2 winters, even with the salt on our Ontario roads. But the paint on step area itself takes a beating from constant use and does need touchup paint every spring. 2nd. As stated in Pros, these do stop stones from chipping your rocker panels, but... you will hear the stones pinging off these boards. You get used to it and are often thankful knowing that loud rock you just heard, could have chipped your truck paint if it wasn't for these step boards. Other than they, they're great! Some people have complained in other reviews about the step area not being long enough. I step in with toe of my work boot only. I don't put boot sideways in step, so I have never had any trouble with that issue.Oh and that large Magnum decal peels off easily if you don't like looking at it.
