Great gaming laptop, awful battery life
This is an excellent gaming laptop. It is thin, light, the screen is gorgeous, and the chassis looks fantastic. However being thin and light the thermals are always going to be terrible. If you use the discrete GPU this laptop will heat up to around 90 degrees for the CPU and GPU quickly doing even basic tasks such as web browsing, reading emails, or youtube. You will not be sitting with this on your lap at these temps it is painfully hot. This Triton ships with "discrete GPU always on" in the PredatorSense menu. Turn that off and it will only use the discrete GPU when needed (for gaming). This allows this laptop to maintain a much more comfortable 35 - 40 degree temp for everyday tasks and remains very quiet with low fan speeds at these lower temps. Also be aware because the thermals are so bad when you do use the discrete GPU for gaming the fans spin fast and they are LOUD. Not an issue if you are using headphones otherwise it sounds like you are riding in a small jet. The heat also travels up through the keyboard. Not painfully hot but definitely warm. The battery lasts around 4 hours with "discrete GPU always on" turned off for everyday tasks. When turned on you will be lucky to get 2 hours. Overall I really like this laptop but just know going in with any thin and light gaming laptop your thermals are going to suffer which means a lot of heat quickly with loud fans when using the discrete GPU. We also use it with Oculus Quest 2 and the link cable which this laptop is more than powerful enough to handle, and thankfully has the correct USB-C port to connect. Being away from the laptop when using VR and not having to use the keyboard the hot temps are no issue whatsoever. Having the option to turn off the discrete GPU to keep temps down for basic tasks is very welcome and makes this laptop usable when travelling. You do have the option of using better thermal paste and undervolting but this will only bring temps down marginally and the fans are still going to be loud.

Dream Machine
I just got my Triton 500 yesterday (with the 2070 Super, couldn't afford to go higher). I have to say this thing is incredible! I've been searching for a gaming laptop for awhile, and tried just about every one. This gaming PC has won the competition! It games like a dream. I can't believe it's a laptop! It games the same as my desktop PC, if not better. The battery lasts way too long for a gaming laptop. 6 hours with the NVIDIA GPU engaged is insane (youtube and Amazon Video). Everything is engineered way too smooth with too many choices (GPU choice toggle/coolboost/Preset Overclocking/etc etc etc). Every time I look for an option to change it's already thought of, and done correctly. Even the design is beyond beautiful. The RGB is insane! This laptop screams elite gamer, but also dignified and classy at the same time. Also, I have a unique heat issue. I have burn damage to my hands so I can't use a laptop where the surface temp gets too hot (G14 sole my hands up for days). I can't get my Triton 500 to get hot. The surface temp is nice and cool, and even the GPU hasn't gone over 75 degrees C even on CoD warzone with maximum settings. Performance has been incredible. I've been maxing out warzone in every way I can imagine trying to get this laptop to reach a limit. It hasn't yet. The 300Hz refresh rate is a game changer. I went from 2-3 kills a game to around 6 just by being able to see them before they see me. Thank you all for your hard work in designing a dream machine Acer. I don't usually pull this hard for a product, but for the first time in years I'm beyond impressed! It's so rare to see a product intentionally designed as a masterpiece, and Acer has done it! I've never tried an Acer laptop before, but I've instantly changed my status to Fanboy!

Perfect for diy/techies, great otherwise.
3 Years after purchase, i7 10750H/2070s (ti) I would give this a 9/10 if I could but going to round down. If you can repair laptops, this is a 5/5 or 10/10. Build quality decent to great, fans failed around after the first year of ludicrously heavy use (6+ hours a day, constantly.) Repair wasn't too bad but definitely an expert to intermediate level task. Keyboard lettering on wasd faded around the 15 month mark, not too big of an issue. One LED has failed, right shift, just the red part of it too. Everything else still functions fine. Feels good, able to play keyboard smashers without much issue, shouldn't even be a concern for the 99% of people who don't play rhythm. Case is stiff and metal, the entire thing feels solid, but will heat up on extended sessions. Gets noticeably warm and uncomfortable if there's no airflow in the room. Ceiling fan or desk fan nullifies the issue fairly well. Thermals can keep up provided you have a good, flat surface to let the fans breathe. Definitely cant keep up with new AAA on the 300hz max, but everything I've tried has ran 120/144 with no issues on high. The 300 is a godsend for rhythm games and similar though. I had success using an unpowered laptop cooler as a medium between the laptop and wherever it was, kept the fans nice and fed without too much extra bulk. No dead pixels on arrival and none have appeared so far. Remember you need to swap the GPU in bios to discrete only if you want gsync to work (this is why its set this way from factory btw). Battery life is awful, less than an hour in some cases with everything set to gamer mode. HOWEVER, drop the screen to 60hz, go into bios and set it to igpu only, and it turns into quite a nice ultrabook with 6-8ish hours of battery life provided the screen brightness is sensible. The thermals also calm down to the point one can comfortably run through the entire battery life on lap without getting too warm. Overall a good machine and one I have no regrets about purchasing. Upgrading the ram and storage means removing the motherboard though, so either spec it out proper or watch a yt video and see if you feel confident diy. Another important note is the power connector inst soldered straight to the motherboard, and its an easy enough repair anyone who can get the back off without breaking the case could do it. Charger is also a 90 bend on the laptop side, very nice for extended usage.

Very Good Gaming Laptop, This 90w 2070 Super Max-Q is as good as the normal 115w 2070 Super Mobile
A solid and very capable gaming laptop capable of replacing some desktops. Pros: - 300hz G-Sync Display, top tier screen, no IPS blur and ghosting. Better than my $410 IPS monitor. - Excellent CPU, is basically the same as the i7-9750H though - Excellent GPU with Max-Q design, allowing power allocation for the CPU to GPU or vice versa when needed. Also, the 90w 2070 super Max-Q in this laptop performs as well as the normal 115w 2070 Super Mobile. - 16GB DDR4 2933Mhz RAM (Decent speed, 16GB is more than enough for most people unless you're 3D rendering) - Metal body and plastic bezels, superior build quality - Very good thermals, 3 fans along with 5 heat pipes allow for good cooling. On max fans the cpu hits around the low 80s or high 70s and GPU around the high 60s with heavy load. - Full Per-key RGB keyboard (There is a bump on the W key if that bothers you) Cons: - Relatively expensive - Average battery life - Difficult to upgrade due to motherboard being mounted upside down - 1080p screen - Loud Fans* (This may be a negative to some people but loud fans are good because they cool your device well which will increase the lifespan of the components). - Keyboard animation on startup* There is a keyboard effect when you boot-up which can't be disabled regardless of keyboard lighting settings. Overall this is a very good gaming laptop, I replaced an older version of this one (Acer Predator Triton: i7-9750, RTX 2060 (2019 model) and they've made many improvements. They added a slightly faster cpu, full Per-key RGB lighting to the keyboard, a better screen, and upgraded the RAM speed from 2666Mhz to 2933Mhz.. They also added the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q which is more power efficient and cooler compared to its counterpart. Additionally, the thermals were better because of the Max-Q design on the GPU. This 90w 2070 Super Max-Q also performs as well as the normal 115w 2070 Super Mobile due to the good thermal design on this laptop. Got one of the best benches on UserBenchmark for this graphics card. Very nice laptop, would recommend if you have the budget for it. (Although you should probably wait until the RTX 30 series laptops are released)

10/10 here in dubai out of the laptops I've had this is the best by far, good build quality no flaws
I ordered this laptop for gaming and school work the amount of effort acer put into this laptop is amazing, the temps are literally the coldest on the market I'm using the auto fan preset and I get a solid 120fps on minecraft rtx with turbo I can achieve 160fps but the fan is louder then an airplane, the screen had no backblight bleed and I measured the panels response time with overdrive I managed to achieve 2.47ms on average with 300hz running on gpu mode aka g sync, the battery life on this unit is amazing with optimus running on 60hz at 60% brightness, I recently got it today so I'm not done testing but it's still 74% by just browsing on chrome watching things on youtube (fortnite montages) and (anime) also, I went on microsoft teams did some stuff and also reddit, I don't know why but the colors were higher then normal the brightness I measured was 367 nits which is good for a gaming laptop 101% srgb with 81% adobergb and 83% p3 with a contrast ratio of 1250:1. Overall if your going for any gaming laptop this is the thing to go one consequence is the wrist wrest space see the video for yourself, if you own any razer gaming mice you will know this is small, personally I would find this a benefit since I can't tuck my chair under my table so I'm not sitting too far away from the laptop

made of metal, good keyboard but VERY HOT!
If you purchase this laptop DO NOT use it on your lap or on a soft plastic surface. I had two and they both had the same heat problem. The bottom of the laptop would become way to hot to even touch and it would heat up very easy and quickly. you could of course run it on turbo and this would reduce some felt heat but be advised turbo is very loud. I am quite sure the bottom would get hot enough to melt soft plastic. At 61c or 141.8f a burn can happen in seconds. I love acer, i use a acer swift1 it has lasted me for years with abuse and its what im writing this review on. I cannot recommend the acer predator triton 500 knowing the risk associated with it.

Predator Triton 500 comes with RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q Design
The product is carefully packed; mine came with at least 2 boxes before it reached the laptop. Acer tends to provide great care of their packaging, so the problem of a broken laptop on arrival is extremely rare. It is a monster when it comes to gaming. With 300hz monitor, I am satisfied as there is no tearing and fps spike. It is just a perfect choice especially for FPS games out there. However, there are two problems to be concerned about, which are the noises that it makes and the heat. Usually, while gaming, you would probably hear a lot of fan sounds, and it might affect your experience with friends, and yep, heat also comes along. Obviously, it is a gaming laptop, so I could not ask more besides a smooth run for all of my games. I am really satisfied with this choice.

Great laptop
Best investment I have ever made. Every program I need runs excellently, and I love the different speed and heat settings. I could even modify the startup very easily, and it was extremely easy and fast to set up. Very quiet on low speed, too, even after a year. Amazing stuff, and great battery life which rarely ever falls short.
