Retique It Liquid Wood, 8oz, 1. Light

I have now ‘painted’ my object with this but not stained so no critique there but HOLY CRAP this is the absolute worst smelling product I have ever touched. While it advises not to breathe it in as a mist, and as someone with sensory issues that mean I won’t out a mask on unless it is absolutely needed….i lasted 30 seconds before I put a kn95 mask on bc it was so awful. And pray that you live on property you own that you don’t have to worry about leaving whatever you cover with liquid wood , outside I had to put mine back In the garage and now the smell of my garage makes me want to keel over

The most amazing product for do-it-your-selfers and flippers! It's so fun, and does not require any artistic talent. Just follow instructional video, don't overthink it, and move quickly! I started on a trim board made from MDF board that was painted shiny white, and became addicted to wood graining everything!

I used the 8oz light wood and it just barely covered my bathroom vanity (except I skipped painting the inside of the doors and the left side of the vanity isn’t seen—I wouldn’t have had enough to do that). I did 3 coats. Then 2 coats of the dark walnut Varathane 349560 Premium Gel Stain, Half gel stain. And probably 4 coats of spray clear coat by Rust-Oleum.

After scuffing with 120 grit sandpaper, I painted over the old fireplace surround with “retique it light wood”. Coated entire fireplace surround using every bit of an 8oz can. I then followed up with a grain tool over a thin wet coat of “retique it dark wood”. After letting this cure for 4 hours (and some persuasion with the heat gun), I brushed on a NON penetrating (very important that you do not use penetrating) stain then once dry, a matte polyurethane topcoat. Taping the wall and stone base took most of the time. This is my first experience using any of these products and did not practice at all before starting this job. Spend some time watching youtube videos and you should be good. No steps were difficult or technical at all, just a little time consuming working slowly to not make any mistakes like missing any spots or wasting materials because i ordered a little less than i was comfortable with. I have turned down so many neighbors and friends (that asked me to do this for them). On to the next project.. 😀

This stuff is really cool. It dries to mimick a wood stain. Easy to use.
