Exact replacement for the discontinued Atwood model!
I am so thankful for this water heater! I searched until I found this replacement for my customer's discontinued Atwood model. It was a perfect fit right down to the outer cover hinges! Highly recommend

Excellent product but the Instructions are poorly written.
Perfect fit. But as I said in the instructions are lacking. You must bend the flanges out to attach. The product does work well but I have yet to determine the control wiring. I have 4 wires to the old unit but the new one only has 3. I still highly recommend this unit.

Direct replacement for Atwood/Dometic
Thank goodness Suburban stepped up to fill the massive void in the market after Dometic decided to stop producing the most common size of rv water heater, which they themselves developed in the late 60s I believe. They must have hired the marketing guy who thought New Coke was a good idea. This water heater fit perfectly and works very well.

Water heater would not work.
After installation devise would not work. Could get no response from Suburban. After contacting a dealer was told that 6 out of 10 of units he had installed didn't work due to bad electronic control card. In one case 3 replacement cards later still could not get one that worked.

Cheaply made
Upon opening the box I thought there was a box inside the box due the corrugated box like material covering the thin layer of fiberglass insulation on the tank. I've seen the other models having Styrofoam around the tank and it fits nicely. For 500 dollars this should have at least the styrofoam, not this but I need this motorhome to have hot water by next weekend so hopefully it is a plug and play to the Atwood that was in there, it says it is. I think I'll take some white gorilla duck tape around the corners to close them off

Works
Fast delivery and easy replacement to my broken atwood water heater. i don't like the steel body, as that means i need to keep tabs on the anode rod, but it works as intended. I just used the cover panel from my old water heater and it fit just fine.

Pretty good equivalent to Atwood
Only thing I would improve upon is better instructions. I have never changed hot water tanks and I didn’t find the instructions very clear on certain points.

Works well but parts missing and damaged
The box arrived intact but had evidence of being opened and re-taped shut. Opened it up and one of the corners was dented. Not a huge deal as I was able to bend it back, just annoying. Installed the unit and noticed the grommet to protect the gas line was missing. Guessing they scabbed it out of the unit at some point and put it on Amazon to get out of their inventory. Got the unit hooked up and it worked well. Overall it was a direct aftermarket replacement for my Atwood G6A-8E that required no modifications to install on my 2001 Travelaire.
