The author knows his stuff!
A well-researched, insightful look at a complex region and the motivations of the key players. Especially recommended for students of international affairs and anyone interested in better understanding Gulf relationships.

Gets so many things wrong!
A lot of simple details (e.g. names of places and people) are wrong in this book that it makes it very hard to take the analysis of the writer seriously. He even includes dead people in meetings that occurred 10 years after their deaths! The book is also a mess, it's badly organised and repeats itself a lot. Most of the book is spent retelling the events of the Qatar blockade.. which really shouldn't be the main focus of the book.

A detailed narrative of a complex area of the world. Detailed, densely written, and fully annotated. A must read for those who are involved in the daily briefings for this part of world.

Timely! Intriguing story!
This book is very timely given the recent peace deal between Israel and the UAE & Bahrain. The book talks about the complicated and often unknown history between various Gulf States and Israel. It also talks about the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and Saudi Arabia/UAE/Bahrain/Egypt. Well researched and insightful.

A lot of information, no synthesis
For those who look for facts, there are a lot in this book. However it is more a collection of meetings, events, military operations, than an interpretation. In an interview to the Times of Israel the author was a lot more to the point and easy to follow than in any part of this book
