Two 10 inch oval proving baskets
I have recently been to a sourdough baking workshop (Bread ahead in London) and needed a couple of proofing baskets, I was going to go for a larger basket but decided to go for this one as it was smaller but there were two baskets and I'm so glad I did. ideal if you're not supposed to be having too much bread it creates the perfect sized small loaf, but if you need to have more bread you have the second basket ready to go to make a second loaf. they're 10 inches long and about 6 inches wide. comes with a medium flexibility plastic bench scraper and a 'lame' which is the tool for slashing the top of your loaf which has a curved sharp metal edge, a plastic handle and a plastic safety sheath. The baskets are lightweight (apparently made from rattan cane, I have no idea what that is) but have a smooth finish, not rough and splintery like some baskets I have seen.Really pleased with this product, just need to find the time to bake some more loaves!

Good Value
First of all I’ll be honest, this isn’t my favourite design of lame. That’s a personal thing but I don’t think this design offers the same level of control as a puck/UFO style. The baskets are as good as any batard banneton, where they really shine is the liner. They often need ‘breaking in’, proving with rice flour so to speak. However these have never stuck to the dough once. I’m really pleased.

Can't make sourdough without these!
Perfect for my sourdough bread baking - I now would not be without liners for my baskets... just flour them well and your dough will not stick. They wash easily in the washing machine at 30 degrees and dry quickly and keep their shape too. I use these 2 batard bread baskets with liners over and over again. The lame is not great to be honest but it is all I have to score my sourdough - I probably need to buy myself something more robust. The scraper I gave to a friend it looked like it would do the job but I prefer my larger one that is sturdier from Lakeland. I bought this thinking the scraper and lame were an added bonus - the 2 baskets and liners are a fantastic purchase for the money. If you are only looking for a lame and or scraper I would advise to buy these separately and find good quality ones.

Great kit! Good value
Used these to prove my sourdough babies, did the job well and has excellent circulation- achieved one of my best risen loafs yet!The fabric lining had some black bits stuck to it but we just cleaned them off and then it was ready for use- would also recommend using more flour than expected as it stuck a lil when removing my bread. Bench scraper is basic but does the job, overall a great little kit and good value for money

Perfect
Good value for the price - great for bread which is around 700-850g. The plastic bags it comes in are great for overnight proofing in the fridge. Just put the basket with the dough into the bag and secure with an elastic band. It fits perfectly. The lame is very bad quality but it was just an extra so I am not complaining.

Razor is blunt
Basket is good and sturdy however the razor to cut the bread is extremely blunt and flimsy and I brought this mainly for the knife

Brotbacken mit dem ovalen gärkorb ist eindeutig einfacher. das Brot lässt sich damit viel leichter Formen.
