A Practitioner's Guide to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

Great update for a therapy that actually works!
The Practitioner's guide does a great job of bringing the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Psychology and Therapy (REBT) up to date. In a clear, thorough and concise manner the authors go over the principles of REBT, teach you the ABCs (bad pun)of this very effective yet simple therapy and provide extensive examples of REBT in practice. The Guide is a fairly long read but is easily understood and down-to-earth.One of the fundamental aspects of REBT is it's teach-ability. Clients are encouraged to become familiar with it's principles and strategies in order to optimize their experience. In this, the Guide does not disappoint and I will be recommending it to some of my clients as well as to many of my colleagues. If they ever take this work and aim it at clients -A Client's Guide to Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy- it will be a home run.Summarily, this would be a great read for anyone with an interest in therapies that actually work, are cost effective, and can be self-taught to a significant degree.Kudos to the authors!

A Most Have!
This is the best book I have ever read on psychotherapy. It is worth it's weight in gold. It was a wealth of information on things like: the theory that underpins cognitive behavioral therapy, how to structure a therapy session, examples of how to apply various techniques, and ideas for activities patients can use in between sessions. All therapists could benefit from this text, especially those that practice CBT.

Bang up to date of REBT for 2013 - excellent
The title states it all, superb book on RECBT, if you prefer Ellis to Beck then this is the book for you. The big problems for Beck CBT is--what if the assumptions/inferences the client is making happens to be true ? RECBT has the answer on how to manage/responds to this issue, and that is why REBT is superior of the two approaches on psycho-social emotional problems.Beck based CBT is however stronger for psychiatric clinical problems such as anorexia or OCD - with particular treatment protocols used by IAPT.
