This Flattening Stone is a must have for users of water stones. It is hefty and flattens my water stones with ease.

Good flattening stone, the grooves also work well for putting a tip back on if you have knocked it off.

So, I bought this just over a month ago when I got my sharpening kit... I went to use it last night for the first time and its worn down already, the pictures are after 1 stone - it wears faster that my sharpening stones... not very good, and at this rate, ill need a new flattening stone after my next round of leveling - very expensive for 2 uses.... Gone to return it today, and the returns ran out 5 days ago - so I'm stuck with a useless stone. not very impressed. ***EDIT*** After contacting Amazon about this, they authorised a return for me, so im much happier now that im getting a refund. GOOD OL AMAZON. Customer service is, on the most part, the best there is!

Looked good but totally pointless as not flat. Opened it and used it to 'flatten' a whetstone only to find the flattening stone was dished out in the middle creating a dome in my whetstone. Had to spend the next 20 min undoing the damage. Have returned for a refund as unfit for purpose.

Too soft. It was ground down by my whetstone, rather than the other way around.

Does the job with no fuss. Much easier to sharpen knives with a flat stone to start with

This flattening stone corrected my sharpening stone in just a few minutes work.

I have the Made in Japan 1000/6000 combo King water stone, I was skeptical about this Made in China flattening stone because some comments said the stone wasn't completely flat. But what the heck, I gave it a try... regardless, it did fix the curved surface of my water stone!!! I showed couple photos showing the work in progress. As you can see, the pencil mark on the top and bottom were gone, that means the silicon carbide of the Sharp Pebble was working. Now, I can continue to sharpen the blade of my Japanese wood plane.
