Rani brand is my "go to" for Indian spices. Having moved away from major metro areas we traded societal ills to searching online to fill our pantry with international spices and goods. I had always purchased from Rani and was relieved to be able to purchase their products online.

Dry red chillies looked fresh and clean. It was neatly packed.

We use these to add a nice umami layer to our cooking (sure, we’ll add it when we’re cooking Indian food, but we’ve been going through a gnocchi and sauce phase - and 2 of these peppers tossed whole into the pan while you’re sauteeing the gnocchi … chef’s kiss!), and a gentle heat to whatever they’re in. If we want more heat, we just break open the pod and let some of the seeds out into whatever we’re making. These have a really nice, complex texture and I’m delighted with their quality.
