Vintage Charm
If you love romantic rural style, which I do, you should enjoy this book. With the demise of magazines such as COTTAGE LIVING and COUNTRY HOME, there's a dearth of outlets for this romantic, rural style. Author Christina Strutt believes this vintage style is here to stay with the emphasis on recycling, reusing and refurbishing vintage pieces. The confluence of the recession, care for the environment, and our nostalgia for simpler times and pleasures, is causing us to cherish the past and its simple beauty even more. Proof that this style is fashionable and in demand today, Strutt's CABBAGE & ROSES shops are flourishing: four new shops have opened and several new books of hers have been published in the past eight years. This is actually a reissue of a 2003 book she produced.Chapters in this book cover the romance of vintage, vintage kitchens, living spaces, bedrooms, retreats & hideaways and creating vintage style. Elements detailed in the photos include Strutt's gorgeous faded floral fabrics, blue and white seaside ticking, painted furniture, chipped crockery, vintage books, skirted sinks, nature's accessories (lemons, eggs, garden flowers etc.) glass decanters, slipcovered chairs and ribboned pillows. If you like this whimsical, fetching style, it's a lovely book for a side table. The charm of the cover is a beguiling hint of what you will find inside.

Should Be Clearly Labeled as a Re-issue
This is a beautiful book, but it should be clearly labeled as a re-issue of the author's 2003 book Decorating Vintage Style. I already have that book and did not realize when I ordered this that it is a re-issue. I went through the two books page by page, and they are the same. The only difference is that the new book is printed on much higher quality paper and is a conventional rectangular book shape, whereas the previous edition is a large square book with very thin paper pages. I will probably keep the new book because of the better quality production.Apart from the above, I highly recommend Vintage Chic to those who, like me, love the very pretty, romantic, English style of decoration. Christina Strutt designs lovely, dreamy, pastel floral fabrics, and in this book she shows how they can be used in every room of the house and even in the garden.

Nice Book, but very Dated
Pretty Book, however it’s very dated. I should have looked at its 2003 copyright. Many of the photos are no longer stylish.
