This is a sturdy, good quality electrical isolator switch, ideal for automotive use.

I bought this to disconnect a winch live feed when not in use. I was told it needed to be rated at 200A but that seems excessive and have no doubt this item will be more than up to the task. It has a very positive action when the red key is inserted and the brass terminals look built to last. I have installed it on a tractor so there is lots of vibration but a blob of silicone sealant on the threads will ensure they never loosen off. I bought a set of ring terminal fittings at the same time rather than loop the copper around the nut and crush it down. No point taking a chance. Despite the agricultural installation I didn't want it to look butchered. I found with a 22mm (I think) drill bit, I could put a hole in a flat bit of dash and push the isolator through from behind. This way I have only 2 small bolt heads showing which secure the isolator body, and the turret for the isolator key which is covered by a rubber cap when not in use. All looks neat and professional, and the item is well worth the money.

Fitted as it has 10mm posts as opposed to the 8mm versions. Sturdy with decent size key. Does exactly what is should do.

Ok, so, this does what it says on the tin and will safely act as a kill switch / on switch for 12v systems up to around 100 amps. However, it won't be suitable in all applications and this is because the rear part of the switch has no cover so the live terminals are exposed. This is fine if installing in a garage-type application where the rear of the switch may be recessed into a wall - however, in my application, as an isolator for a caravan motor mover - the rear is exposed under the front seat making it dangerous and not ideal for a storage compartment. I have used it, with plenty of insulation tape and will regularly check it's condition until i can find a more appropiate one.
