Glory Days: The Untold Story of the Men who Flew the B-66 Destroyer into the Face of Fear

The Definitive Book on the B-66 Series
Written by a former RB-47 and EB-66 "Raven",this work covers all of the variants of the Air Force's B-66 Destroyer series and features detailed descriptions of their operations and the men who flew them. '50s ops in Japan and Europe are covered in detail, but about half of the 400+ pages concern the EW missions they conducted in South East Asia. While the Thuds and Phantoms typically get the lion's share of ink in USAF Vietnam books, the EB-66 deserves no small amount of credit for the valiant work the type and its aircrew accomplished in theater. This effort succeeds in that regard by covering the somewhat convoluted development of the type and doesn't hide the warts, the lackluster J-71 engines it was stuck with getting a deserved amount of scorn. Presentation is largely text with some pictures, all B&W, many of which are obviously from the personal collections of Destroyer aircrew. Heavily footnoted and with appendicies covering airframe losses, specifications, squadrons and other valuable reference data. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the Cold War USAF, the air war in Vietnam or electronic warfare.

Been There; Done That!!
I know this author personally--we flew together in the same aircraft (RB-47H) during the Cold War; we both flew the Glory Days aircraft (EB-66C) during the Vietnam War, just not at the same time frame. He tells some very riveting stories of what it's like to fly "spy planes." An ACCOMPLISHED author and authority.

Great Info about a little known plane
This plane help to win not just the "Cold War", but the Air war over North Vietnam. If you like reading about these little aircraft, this is a great book.

long overdue
This book is about an aircraft and crews that has been mostly neglected, the Douglas B-/RB-66 Destroyer, and their place both in Air Force history and the Cold War, as well as the Vietnam War, where the EB-66s did yeoman work in protecting bomber formations going against North Vietnam. It's about time! Great stories about the growing pains, daily training, difficulties and special considerations in getting the B-66 series of aircraft into service. There's one more book out there, and I want that one, too. Too long neglected, their stories must be told!

Douglas B-66
I had the privilege of flying the Douglas EB/B-66-B/C/E models during one of my SEA tours. I simply loved the airplane. Even more so, the men who crewed and maintained them. Tremendous effort in compiling Glory Days. Greatly appreciated as I had no knowledge of the publishing until recently. A very special Old Buddy crew member notified and told me about Glory Days, of course; immediately ordered it myself. Received as promised, packaged right, price well worth it. Highly recommended. Thank you.

B66 memories
Great book, Having served at Korat RTAFB, Thailand during the Vietnam war and spent many a night fixing fuel leaks on the wing roots of B 66s. I still have my B-66 shoulder patch that I had almost for gotten about till I saw the ad for the book. Seemed funny working on a plane as old as I was thanks for the memories.

Glory Days ;The untold story of the men who flew the B-66 Destroyer into the face of fear
An excellent account of this very much understated aircraft and the many roles and missions that it performed whilst in front line service with the USAF. I would have liked some more information regarding the time that this aircraft spent with its Wings and Squadrons in Europe and also some more pictures particulary in colour of these earlier days of the B-66. The only colour photos appear on the front cover of the book and none are inside. The note pages and appendices at the rear of the book are very good with a wealth of very usefull information overall though a very good book
